DX12, but I need DX11?

My dad helped me pay for this PC I just got, and we bought it because it had some of the "best" of each hardware/software/graphics card/etc. But now when I go to launch DBD, I can't play, becasue it says I need DX11, but I have DX12. I don't know much about computers, but I thought DX12 was the better one. I've never played the game before, and I was really looking forward to. Can anybody help me, or this just something I have to deal with, and move on to find another game?

You should still be able to play it with a DX12 card, I have DX12 and it launches fine. Make sure your graphics card drivers are all up to date.

Which graphics card do you have?

NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT.

the game was designed for direct x 11, but a new card should be able to run it as with the above post i would try making sure your graphics drivers are updated.

I'm sorry if this is a bothersome question, but, how do I do that? Make sure my drivers are updated? I really don't know a lot, this is my first real PC, but I'm willing to learn as much as I can.

Install this and then when you run it, there should be an option to update to the latest drivers.

Also that graphics card is like from 2008, I think? Doesn't seem like its "the best" one.

Yes I had a look around. It doesn't even have Direct X12, its a DX11 card. Did someone tell you it was a good card? Its super old. D:

Hi, me again. It says that my driver is updated but still won't let me launch the game. The exact text is "DX11 level 11.0 is required to run this engine"

this is dx10 card (at least wiki says so, don't bash me)
some sites say it has early version of dx11, which has problems with new games

The GT 9800 is outdated as hell. You won't be able to play DBD with that.
Besides missing DX11 its far too weak.

try checking your direct x verison by pressing Windows key and R together then type dxdiag. this should show your direct x verison.

What version of Windows are you using?

Whatever your poblem is, it's not because of DX12. DirectX is backwards compatible, so DX12 will run anything DX11 or lower.

If it says you don't have DX11, then obviously you don't have DX11 or DX12. Chances are you have a DX12 compatible card but don't actually have DX12 installed. Go to Microsoft.com and download DX12.

And yes. Your computer is an ancient potato. Don't expect it to run DBD with any kind of fluency.

I'd suggest buying an RX 580 8gb. they're on sale on amazon. Definitely reach out to people about purchasing a PC in the future. If they said it was the latest and greatest you were definitely scammed.
