Traps kinda take some luck too, good placement won't always guarantee traps unfortunately.
Pallet traps are good if you place em right.
If youre gonna put a trap next to a pallet, it should be hidden in grass, if you can see the trap, its gonna be useless.
Trap pallets by trapping the side of the tile, where survivors will around when looping it or after they dropped the pallet. That always works for me.
Always trap hunters shack by either placing a trap outside directly in front of the window, or by a corner left or right to the window.
Like the silo with the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ (for the killer) window open. I just double trap it by placing a trap on both sides.
♥♥♥♥ that window. Everytime a survivor vaults that, my PTSD triggers.
Other than that, grass. Tall grass is preferred.
Don't put them immediately next to generators in tall grass. Think about the possible paths a survivor can take if they see you coming, move it a bit further up that path.
Set up traps for the late game too. Choose generators you want to defend and place traps logically so that as the game progresses you're narrowing the playing field for survivors.
