If you can trap your totems (Hag, Trapper) then most totems can be good.
You can also run Thrill, but if you don't have the MS or map pressure to get to your totems, you're going to still lose them regardless.
NOED has been the alternative because most people just ignore dull totems for whatever reason, then they complain the killer shouldn't get a second chance perk while running DS, Unbreakable, Borrowed, and an insta heal medkit. Depending on where it spawns I've seen it much more useful VS other totems. Yeah it can get cleansed, but not as often as others.
Myu, yeah, DS especially is a bit of a pain. 1 minute invincibility after being unhooked at the endgame means it's a more or less a guaranteed escape. Unbreakable I don't mind, I figure if someone's been slugged long enough to use it, fair enough. (I play survivor too.)
I can't trap my totems because I usually play Spirit (if I want a chance of killing some people) or Pig (if I just want to have some fun and mess with survivors but know they'll probably all escape.)
Some people try to defend hex perks like "The time they spend cleansing the hex totem is time they aren't doing gens!" and it's like... hex totems only take 14 seconds to cleanse. A perk slot that distracts one survivor for 14 seconds really isn't worth it.
The only hex perk I think is decent is Haunted Ground. Now you WANT them to cleanse it so you can get a free down on survivors. You could always use Haunted Ground with other hexes, but since you don't know which hex is which you don't know which totem is worth protecting and you might spread yourself too thin trying to protect 3 totems on top of 5 generators.
Otherwise some survs tend to disregard hexes.
.
Yet, if one can't stand people being not as good as oneself, why don't they keep their butt out of the steam Forums?
While totems have fixed locations that they can spawn in, the main idea is that they bring nasty powers to the killer. Hex: Devour Hope for instance is a seriously strong perk; it would be incredibly frustrating but also imbalanced to play against if finding it was "very difficult".
It's been said before; the gimmick is that they are "high risk, high reward". Devour Hope for instance works at its best as a snowball hex; survivors panicking are more suspect to not look for the totem, granting you more leverage out of it. It depends on how well you can apply pressure, because if you are not then obviously your hex totems may be found by dedicated totem scavengers/lucky survivors finding it.
Of course, that's also some time they're spending not doing generators.
That said, there are many ways to play with hex perks and I've found t hat Hex: Haunted Ground is an amazing combo perk with any other hex perk. It raises the stakes and gives it a lot more risk to the survivors. Are they gonna cleanse your Ruin or Devour Hope? Or are they unlucky and cleanse a totem, only to see the dreadful "Haunted Ground" Exposed?
This argument is trash and you know it. How many times a totem spawns at a gen or at surv spawn. How can he protect the totem if the killers is chasing a surv, there are 3 others, it is not like it is hidden well.
You never played a game as killer or you are just posting for the sake of spewing drivel.
