Is using a locker bad tactics?
I get locker shamed a lot when I go in a locker.

I go in locker for two reasons:

1) Killer chasing me and I want to lure him to use Head On.
2) Just before survivor is hooked to avoid b&c saying where I am.

I have just had a rank 1 (I am rank 5) abusing me saying I need to kill myself and suck at the game. He said a true red rank NEVER (capital letters) uses a locker and that I harm the team by using a locker. He said some youtuber called Otzdarva supports never using a locker (no idea who that is). He said I should uninstall because it is toxic.

Is he right? If so I will remove Head On and never use a locker again.

well i mean lockers are bad to use and usually noob traps cause the killer basically gets a free down

like 90% of the time vs a good killer locker plays wont work cause

1- the super obvious visual and audio cues of a survivor entering one

2- if a killer has half decent headphones he can hear your survivor breathing in the locker

now i would not say "Never" use them as there are situations where locker play can indeed pay off and i definitely would never go as far as being toxic over that "or period cause you know unlike half the dbd community i behave like a decent human being" and dont just turn in to a monkey over any tiny thing

as for otzdarva he has become a bit of a meme in the community "the good type of meme not the bad kind" due to his advice and how calm he is even when being tilted here is a link

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCDO__Z-tZD4bfG9m4AkK_uA

but in general locker plays are looked down upon since

how many times have you had where you are on the hook and that damn dwight "Locker dwight" is sitting in a locker half-way across the map NOT DOING A GEN while the killer is nowhere near?

but again play however you want and lockers are not 100% useless as many think just...situational

the only time i personally would ever reccomend lockers is if you are using quick and quiet as it can catch people off guard as its not exacly a every-day occurence "i know i have fallen for it in the past and will in the future probably" but even then...

Locker is fine to use with quick and quiet and other locker base perks..head on too.

Locker's are just special because they mean you have few options to play them with..and are a gamble..where for killer they are a grab and time saver if they do.

That is it..using locker is just about making it a good plan for you..like to avoid BBQ, activate head on..avoid Doctor's big shock wave..

Using Locker is more..careful then anything. It is something to be careful with. But if you have reason to use it, then do that.

I've had times where i had avoided a killers BBQ by using a locker. My teammate on the same gen as me did not. The killer came to get him and he just ran to the locker and pointed at it until the killer found me in there.

Using a locker is ideal for when you suspect Killer has BBQ. If you're outside the range of BBQ, hiding in a locker for 5 seconds hides you from their aura reading. If you're within the range, then just hide around a corner, no need to be in a locker.

Dont go in a locker, you are hurting your team by doing so. The risks do not outweight the rewards at all.

If you play soloqueue you are probably the only player going in lockers to counter bbq. Thereby you just send the killer to your teammates who dont go in lockers because they are not afraid to get chased. Also you will never get better in chase if you keep avoiding killers like that. In my opinion you are just wasting time and sandbagging your team.

Often a bad tactic. If the killer knows what locker you went into, they are going to find you 'well' before those 3 seconds.

Lockers in general aren't bad if you're not giving any information to the killer outside of the locker. (IE: Are you near a generator that has progression?)

It can also avoid BBQ, but it becomes a gamble. Think of it from a killer perspective if they don't have BBQ or see 0 survivors. Probably patrol the hook a little bit before going off to a generator, and they may very well come to your generator regardless.

I am beginner to the game (only rank 4) so trying to learn.

Thanks, I have removed Head On and banned myself from ever entering a locker in ANY circumstances.

Thanks for your insight and input.

The fact that he thinks rank means anything just tells me that he doesn't know what he's talking about. A "true red rank"? Come on, that's just grade A cringe. Even by toxic survivor standards.

I think because of this Survivors who are hooked will see your aura leave a locker and incorrectly assume you've been spending an inordinate amount of time in the locker.

They don't clue in that you just hopped in quickly so you're not punished for their mistake.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned healing yourself with Inner Strength, that's probably the best use of a locker I can think of. Head On strikes me as too gimmicky to be worthwhile, and going into a locker to avoid BBQ and Chili or the Doctor is ok, but Inner Strength is something that can work in every match if you're hurt, assuming you find a totem or two. (Entering a locker when you have Decisive Strike happens too, although that is probably more of a niche use.)

Otherwise it seems like the better survivors don't hide in lockers for the most part, unless maybe they're hiding to try for a hatch or Inner Strength like I mentioned above. Like other people said, lockers are risky - if the killer sees you enter one or hears you in it or sees your tracks leading up to the locker and stopping then there's a good chance they'll check the locker and your screwed.

Lockers are there for a reason. Dude probably complains about bbq in the forums.
Prydain 1 Thg06, 2020 @ 4:22pm
Just depends heavily on the situation. Honestly as long as you aren't that Dwight that gets into a locker after hearing a heartbeat for a split second, I think you'll be fine.
Danzomanzo 1 Thg06, 2020 @ 4:34pm
Locker use is being promoted from what I've seen. Head on, Inner strength, ability to avoid bbq and chili as well as Doc's shock etc. They used to be garbage but devs have given them more purpose.
Its just that locker plays rely on perks and very rarely will it work against a good killer.
Only time i see them being useful is to dodge a Legion or Nurse lunge after using their abilities.
