So there is no help for making it easier? A perk?
I fail 90% of my skill checks. But maybe that is just a newb thing?
When you repair generators/heal someone etc.
If you're still having trouble, you can use perks like This is not happening, Stake Out, Technician ot help you with hitting skill checks or use Technician to reduce the penalty of missing one. Some add-ons for survivor items also make the skill checks easier or harder.
Are these DLC perks or can they be got by just playing?
Stake Out is a teachable perk for David Tapp, from the SAW DLC. This is a licensed chapter, so buying this with shards is not an option.
Technician is a perk from Feng Min, from the Spark Of Madness DLC. She can be bought with shards.
There is also this thing in the store called "The Shrine of Secrets". This is a shop for teachable perks, which you can unlock with shards (I don't know how much, never bought anything from it since I own everything already). The perks in the shop change every Wednesday. Buying perks from here means you have the perk without needing to own the character it's from.
So if you don't have the DLC's, you can get both perks when they appear on the Shrine.
Ok, thanks, i'll look into it as soon as i start progress.
I'm no expert. Especially not in QTEs.
There is also a killer called "The Doctor" which gives you the Madness status effect with his power. This effect has all kinds of effects I won't go into, but one of them is making the skill checks appear on a different part of the screen or making them shake (or both!). So if you see those types of skillchecks, that's why.
