Doesn't help that ranking up as survivor is easy though. I went up to rank 15 as Survivor, and I got boosted a bit too by Rank 12, 8, and sometimes, I found myself playing with red ranks against a Killer that would be like Rank 15 or lower, I still remember that one time where I was the only Rank 16, matched with all Purple ranks against a rank 18 killer
I'm slightly guilty of that, but it's not that I lose on purpose, I just play too casually to really get a proper rank so I'm usually around 12, when my player skill is more proper for reds.
And whether or not you think this is a competitive games is up to opinion but with ranks / and the way people get worked up and try hard i think it is a competitive games.
This is the root of the issue in my opinion because lets say you have a group like this
Rank 20
Rank 13
Rank 7
Rank 1
Killer Rank #
no matter what the killers rank is you are screwed on both side either the survivors have to face a killer thats to easy or to hard for them and on the same note the killer has to face survivors thats to easy or to hard for them also.
Im not saying remove SWF but letting anyone play with any rank removes ALL balance from the game.
When i solo que i get WAY better games than with SWF because 90% of the time in SWF we get rank 20-10 killers with 2-3 rank 1-5's
thats why the matchmaking Sucks ass
Enjoy being crushed until they fix it ... no ETA.
I feel I'm either against helpless beginners red ranks either against experts.
The matchmaking seemed more balanced at a first glance, newbies vs newbies, but that eventually proved wrong. The players on PS4 seem much less willing to buy DLC characters, and haven't unlocked almost any of the unique perks each person has. No Dead Hard, no Adrenaline, No Self Care, only what that particular Survivor has. Even worse, because players didn't seem to like buying DLC, the survivors would have zero knowledge on a DLC Killer. Even Freddy* before his rework was able to dominate seasoned players on PS4 with ease because they just did not know, or have good perks to help them. Ironically Nurse, who is considered a S-Tier Killer on PC is horrible on PS4 lol. I guess a controller doesn't do well with her.
*Freddy was unable to attack awake survivors, and had to wait 7 whole seconds before he could, needing them to fall asleep first from a ranged ability. Arguably, his real advantage at the time was that outside his TR, sleeping survivors always had their aura revealed, so he always knew exactly where they were, and what they were doing. This was, and still is my main.
Honestly, I know the matchmaking sucks, but since you're already in with us, I'd recommend to try not to let it bother you too much. If you want advice on starting, I have a few good ones.
1) Don't get cocky! Things might be going good, but if you get sloppy, it'll bite you in the ass. A Killer might not have caught you this time, but next time he might be annoyed enough to camp you. And some Survivors can make quite a comeback.
2) Escaping, or killing all 4 isn't the only way to 'win'. As a Killer, it's widely agreed that killing at least 2 survivors is 'winning' in a competitive manner. Honestly, just getting Brutal (killing one but still get high scores) is enough to 'win' so don't worry if 1 or 2 slip away. As for Survivors, yeah escaping is the main goal, but plenty of players seem just as happy to sacrifice themselves helping their pals. Playing a Hero can be fun, even if you can't fight the villain. Heck, as a Killer, you can decide to kill no one if you feel like it, maybe the Survivors amused you too much to wanna kill.
3) Experiment. Every Killer has a unique style to play, and some are more fun then others. Doctor is one of the most unique killers of the game, and can be VERY fun to mess with Survivors. Simply put, he has a zap that hits everyone within his Terror Radius (which you can expand greatly) with a lengthy cooldown, along with a cone shaped zap directly infront of you. Survivors...don't have that luxury, oh yeah they have unique perks, but beyond that, they're all the same. One particular problem with this is you don't really get to "try" a killer before buying him. Which is a really shady practice tbh. They use to have offerings to let you demo a Killer in 1 game, without perks or addons. So you get your first impression with maximum handicaps. Leatherface is a good choice too, he's simple and all 3 of his perks are fantastic.
4) The Meta, try to get a good idea of it. There's plenty of perks and possible combinations that can really be game changers. Spine Chill on a Survivor allows him to know a Killer is looking in his direction and nearby, even if the Killer has stealth abilities. Insidious allows the TR to vanish, but doesn't mute you, so Huntress keeps singing. Kindred helps Survivors keep track of who is where when somebody is hooked, more importantly you see the Killers Aura, and if you get hooked, they see him. Pair that with Spine Chill, and you have an evasive combo. Like tip 3, this involves experimenting.
5) Last one, Patience is key. We've had our moments of losing our cool in a game, but try to remain calm/focused. If you're playing Huntress or Deathslinger, and panicking, your aim is shot to hell. You're not gonna hit anyone. BUT you keep your cool, keep that hand/finger steady and fire, you'll hit your mark. Losing your cool will also cause you to make mistakes much like being cocky does. You can't win every game, so try not to let losing bother you too much.
1) What's with Necro
2) That system doesn't exist anymore, so what's with Necro
