Edit: Watched the video. Never really played anything higher than 16:10, but I didn't realize the advantage you got with a 1:1 resolution. That's certainly a bit iffy, but I don't see how the devs can prevent it.
That streamer is a moron that is a compulsive complainer and couldn't be bothered to test it first. I mean c'mon we're talking about less than 90 seconds total including changing resolutions, starting game to check, closing game, changing resolutions, starting game to check.
Imagine being so dumb you don't even understand that 1920x1080 and 1280x720 are the same aspect ratio so they wouldn't even need to be stretched in the first place never mind look like that. Even using a different aspect ratio such as 4:3 (1440x1080) or 3:2 (1620x1080) and stretching them doesn't show you anything more than you'd see if your monitor had that for a native resolution and THEY ABSOLUTELY DO NOT APPEAR ANYTHING LIKE THOSE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ SCREENSHOTS HE SHOWED ON SCREEN.
Also, eyy, a fellow Bubba main.
whats funny is one of the streamers said they asked the devs if they could use stretch res and he said the answer he got back was " were not sure, we dont know what we are gonna do atm" so even the devs are looking into it as it could give unfair advantages not meant to have.
Only really need two people to do it in a custom game and wouldn't take more than a few minutes to record. I find it hard to believe nobody has bothered to do it yet either.
I'm willing to do it if someone wants to add me and spend 10 minutes or whatever while I switch to a few different aspect ratios and record each one. I've got about 45 minutes to kill right now then I'll be tied up for an hour or two but then I'll be around for the rest of the day so if anyone is bored enough let me know!
Should be worth noting that in actual competitive games with actual big cash prizes on the line that using a stretched resolution is allowed, and most of the top players include the aspect ratio that they use in their bio.
Yeah that motion sickness part you brought up was one of the things I was referring to when talking about some people having legitimate reasons so more power to you. Like I said, some people legitimately need it, some do it for the assumed advantage it gives, however big or small. Again, I have no idea how big or small it is because I've never tried it so I'm not going to even begin to get into that debate. I'll leave that to the competitive folk.
P.S. If we could high five with our chainsaws I would totally do it.
the problem is that hes only looking at one little part of one map. he hasnt proven anything. i was there when this happened. unless hes made a video of every map? i would like to see
im playing on a 1920x1080 monitor and i tried every single res out.
1080x1080
1280x720
1152x952
1270x1080
1440x1080
and so on. and not a single resoulution gave me a big advantage.
Mr. Tru3talent showed in his videos some screenshot how you can see over a rock but i was wondering how didnt it work on my screen? why didnt i get these advantages?
well.. maybe you get an advantage when you play on 1080x1080 on a 4K monitor with a res of 3200x1200 or something but that isnt a case on my monitor.
playing stretched isnt cheating as long you dont play on a ultra big monitor.
