All characters reset to level 1 no perks

just went on the game and it made me re agree to the agreements and all of my characters are now level 1 with no perks please help

Alright. So I have had the same thing happen to me already and I know this is like almost a year old but incase anyone clicks on this in the future. The problem with this is the Steam Cloud system sort of overwriting your old data. So I had a level 30 Meg. I logged in to DbD one day, signed a new EULA agreement thing that I shouldn't have, and all my progress was reset. I verified files, restarted steam it was just a huge problem. Now after reading about this from another unfortunate soul someone (I can't remember their name) mentioned that if you turned off the Steam Clouds access to the game [Right click on the game --> go to Properties --> Go to Updates and uncheck the Steam Cloud button] and restarted the game before you accepted the EULA that that might work. It didn't for me but if you had played the game on another computer it saves your character file from that day on that computer and as soon as you stop playing the data that was on that computer is left there and isn't affected by anything you do on another computer till you log back on and files update from the steam cloud thing. So! If you have reset your game, verified files, and forgot to BACKUP your files for this game. Do what I did. Best way I can explain to understand (SO LONG I APOLOGIZE) I was reset on my home computer which overwrote my original data on the cloud but I play on a computer at a library once a week. So I went to that EXACT computer unchecked the Steam Cloud button and loaded up my character and all my perks and levels from the last time I played on THAT computer were back. All I had to do then was close the game, Recheck the Steam Cloud button and hit play. It will then pull up a screen asking you which files you would like to use to play because then you will have the reset data from the Steam Cloud OR you could use your newly regained levels and perks and download it from the computer instead (It's the second button on the pop-up screen. something like Download from Machine). This absolutely worked for me and I am on my home computer and my perks and levels are back. When you get home it will pop up with which files you want to use again and since your cloud is back just pick the most recent file which WILL be the one from Steam Cloud since you just replaced it. This is the ONLY fix I have so far and it has only worked with computers that you actively play on. So I also suggest regularly backing up your data or contacting the DEVs or something. I apologize if this was so long!
