I assume it's due to his cloaking/uncloaking phases being slow, while his cloaked version ain't that fast as well to compesate it and fact that there are nothing else for him, which in case of good Survivors quite problematic.
Like I'm saying, this is not a rant. I'm not asking for it to be changed. I don't think it's unfair. I was merely pointing something out.
Personally, I played the crap out of old wraith, and I never understood people's complaints. The rework wasn't bad, more just like...why?
Imo:
- either his cloaked/uncloaked phases should not slow down (at least that much) or take way less time on default
- either his cloaked speed should be a bit faster
- either he should be less distinguishable, when cloaked and moving
Well, issue with Trapper without add-ons is that his traps take a lot of time to set, but most important that, if you don't have Bag add-on you start with 1 Trap/1 Slot and 5 traps scattered across the map, which in case of big maps or maps with complex environment extremely painful. So I would actually say that Trapper is even more add-on dependant (even without taking sabo into account), than Wraith, because Wraith has his ability fully active from start and don't need to scout map to make spider's nest.
At the same time, I think that well placed and prepared areas with default Trapper put way more pressure, compared to default Wraith on average, so if you chose proper area and play right around it, you may get more benifits from it, compared to faster running Wraith with quasi-invisibility.
Even those who are not too dependant on add-ons/meta perks and strong/somehow strong with their default potential, which usually includes good starting perks (like Spirit/Hag and Huntress as somehow exception in terms of perks, bur with great ranged potential), still feel actually strong only with some meta perks/add-ons. Which is quite debatable from balance perspective.
Same Wraith, Trapper, Leatherface are good examples of being on a weaker side on default and being too counterable, when they don't have proper equipment (add-ons/perks) and even when they have they become somehow close to top-tier Killers default potential only when they equiped with best tools.
