While i would have prefered a cool new temple map. Its far from lazy
It is lazy, it's a copy paste of Red forest, and the only thing they did was drop a building in the middle of it.
Just like the clowns map. They could have made a big top, with a circus, lions that roar when survivors/killers get to close. But we get macmillian with a few circus stands thrown in a corner with a random church.
But each variant should expand on the lore of the killer of the map they belong too. A good example is auto haven. You have the office for the junk yard, a big crushing field, and you have the gas station. It shows you more about the wraith. What the world looked like during his time, right. But they are undeniably the Wraith's maps.
You cannot mistaken them for the clowns map the same way you could mistake clowns, trappers, huntress, and plagues maps.
With the clown you could squint and say "oh the circus visited the estate" and interlink their stores that way & tell another story of how the Clown & trapper met. But that's the thing, each map should tell a story or add to the story.
This junk together two killers nonsense DBD has done for a few chapters now does nothing to tell us a new story or expand on the lore. It's lazy.
Red forest is a nice map, so be glad they didnt use a corn/azerov/macmillan map, ungrateful dweebs.
Flipping assets is always laziness. Atlas is a great example of it.
Yet they are going to ask you to pay $10 for a survivor skin, a new killer with an okay power, and a free asset flip map.
If I'm paying for a new killer, I want her to have her own original map.
Hmmmm
the maps have never been part of paid DLC. They're available to everyone regardless of if you buy it or not, so price isn't really an valid issue regardless of how you feel about assets being reused
We can all snip out parts but it takes true intelligence to read the entire sentence.
one of the map i never want to play on as killer
but look it look nice
But you pay for the survivor, who is just a skin. It's like paying for the outfits in the store when you buy the survivor...actually you're just paying $$$ for the perks. The only thing you're /really/ paying for is the killer, and they include the "map" on the store page as well, even tho it's free, so I included it too.
But the church is not random. The name of the father of the church is mentioned in one of the nurses addons. So this church is probably the place where the nurse got married or the father used to visit patients for religios reasons.
Survivor and killer meshes need to be rigged and animated, to accommodate all the various collision and trigger volumes within all the maps. This might seem like a simple task, but its not.
UE4 requires a complex network of class blueprints, location vectors, controllers, etc to create a seamless gameplay with no corruptions. Applying new perks and powers only serve to complicate the code even more. The value is in the new survivor/killer, not the map. Creating an entirely new map from scratch every chapter is a waste of resources.
