DBD is a pip farming game
Death means nothing when you can still pip. All you got to do is play like an idiot and save your friend on the hook multiple times. Do a couple generators as well. And then you are rewarded with a higher rank.

My last game I just got a 3k in the stupidest way possible. I would've just gotten 1 kill but the team just decides to unhook right in front of me instead of leaving the exit gates. I can't blame them for taking advantage of a poorly designed game that encourages survivors to play recklessly. Not to be altruistic, but encourages them to play in a suicidal way that does not help their team except helping their points in progress.




This game needs to start encouraging survivors to care about themselves just as well, and make death actually punishable. Pips need to be removed from the game, and instead create a new ranking system where your rank goes higher when you actually survive. Hatch needs to be removed as well if this were implemented in order to avoid survivors letting their team die and taking the hatch without any contribution on working generators or helping teamates. Helping teamates needs to be seen as a tactical advantage for yourself, since it helps get generators done faster and you are safer with other survivors around you.


If you need pips as a way to discourage camping then there is obviously something wrong with the balancing of the game. How about making the entity kill rate slower as a start.



Playing this game for the first time was terrifying as survivor. Bring back the anxiety that I once had, instead of the mentality of "Oh I died, but it doesn't matter, I pipped up!"




Here's an idea of the new ranking system.


Escaped: 1 point

Escaped w/ 1 other survivor: 2 points

Escape w/ 2 other survivors: 3 points

Escaped w/ 3 other survivors: 4 points

Sacrificed/Dead: -1 point


For killer:

4 kills: 4 points

Less than 4 kills: -1 point



New ideas for gameplay to support the new ranking system:

-Remove hatch

-Add a 30 minute time limit. If survivors do not escape in less than 30 minutes, entity automatically kills them. Killer and survivors lose 1 point if this happens.

Why are you ranting about pip's if Rank 1 killers are still getting paired up against rank 15 survivors and vice versa? Pips and rank no longer matter.

Pips matter to some people just like the team I went against. You will always get these people who care about these ranks if a ranking system exists.


A ranking system is a good thing, but it's horribly designed at the moment.

But pipping =/= Win. Escaping, on the other hand = Win. So why would you care about pips if you still lost?

EDIT: The idea of pipping only when you escape is good, but I don't think it'll ever happen.

You will ALWAYS get people caring about pips in this game because the ranking system exists. They will take every advantage of ranking up, and encouraging the reckless, stupid plays in order to get those points to rank up is one of the most horrible game designs I have ever seen.

Not everyone is a casual gamer, some play competitively and want to play in the higher ranks where there is similar skill level.

Yeah, I see so many people focused on only saving people and not doing gens. They play immersed and then go for the saves only. I don't personally care about pips that much but the system is indeed encouraging people to play like an idiot.

And this is why "Pips only if you escaped" thing needs to happen. Well, it also needs some tweaks and stuff because "What if that survivor just crouched around the map for the whole game not doing anything?", but at least this is a step in the right direction IMO.

As for now, high ranks contain so many boosted survivors it's not even funny.

If you didnt pip wheb you died people would play much more selfish and solo survivor would be even worse. I like the pip system but i think they made it too hard.

How about you pip only if you escape through gates? You clearly can't just crouch everywhere and wait for the hatch that way, and you can't do all 5 gens and open the gates alone.

If they want to encourage being altruistic, make a system where more survivors escaped = more points rewarded for each survivor, except for the ones who died. Survivors who die consistently will derank, and survivors who survive consistently will rank up, and will get more points when other survivors eacape as well.

You don't have to play selfish if you create a system where you get more points if your teamates survive as well. But you will lose points at death at all times, no matter how much you did. I don't care how many generators or unhooks you did, you get the same amount of point progress or point loss whether if you were useful to your team or not.

No.Horrible idea. People will hide all game and leave you to die on the exit gates even though you pretty much did everything.
