It's frowned upon, but they have no system in place for punishing people who intentionally suicide on hook.
Undying Zombie Apr 2, 2019 @ 5:54pm
Frowned upon but no. Just as the others said.

I would suggest not doing it and keep trying but if you really want to do it there is nothing stopping you really.

Even launching DbD is bannable.

Assuming people report you and the developers decide it is enough reason to take action, sure. Anything they have stated specifically as not punishable is fair game. Suicide is intentionally tipping the balance in favor of the killer, and therefore is indeed punishable.

*Of course if you are put in an unfair match (not having four people), do whatever you want. It isn't your fault, the game is already heavily in favor of the killer.

No, even this isn't the case. They legit will not do anything about suiciding on hooks, reports or not.

Even with video evidence, one could just chalk it up that "I didn't struggle fast enough" or "I needed to go" or some other excuse. Heck, sometimes I die on hook despite struggling because the game apparently doesn't register me mashing the key, or the game freezes for a second because spaghetti optimization and I die that way, too. There's a whole slew of reasons why people could die early in second stage and none of them have to be "'cuz I wanted to".

Theoretically, it is punishable - but yes, it is difficult to validate.

kill yourself (not dc) is not, but your team mates will hate you for not buying time.

but it's their problem anyway...
Yes the survivors must entertain all the killers to make them feel powerful and great players in the "ultrabalanced" game, so they can show all the skills needed to play the so "stressfull" killer.

Also, you can Alt+Tab and do something else. There are so many aura tracking perks and addons that you can leave tracking to killers. Let them do everything themselves.

Like, maybe just don't run towards the killer, and people probably will just think you're bad instead of killing yourself. A lotta newbies get caught fast and immediately follow the prompts on hook, killing themselves. Your excuse can be "I didn't know what button's shift, and my friend told me to not struggle." "My game tabbed out because of a notification." Or some cheese like that if you really gotta explain yourself.
