How to win hatch standoff?

Sorry but killers who are that desperate for 3 more points when I can get 25 from the vessel is so unfair. Worst part is the killer was Michael with a tombstone so he probably would've grabbed me or killed me on the spot. Maybe its my fault cause I was using self care but it switched to escape through hatch but it just pisses me off.

In this situation, the best option would be just do a gens.

you get to the hatch before they do or don't reveal yourself and go work on a nearby gen.. you have the advantage as survivor, the killer can't do squat to you and it is literally a free escape if they do anything.

so the ball is in your court, sit there for an hour+ of your life or attempt to jump in and move on to your next game.

Don’t rush to the hatch unless you know it is open and the killer isn’t near.

If you are looking for it while it is open then be sneaky. Usually the killer will just stand around on the hatch if they have found it first so at that point just leave and 99 the rest of the generators. Then pop them until the doors are active. Now you have 3 options to escape.

Usually when the doors activate is when the killer finally decides to leave the hatch so it’s easy to jump in then, but if not it’s a free door escape for you.

just dont do standoffs. its just another piece of evidence for bad game design. just live by whoever gets to the hatch first wins. much easier on your head if you dont cry about not being able to win a singular game

I'm with this guy. I see the hatch as a survivor and just try my luck. As a killer I just wap um and move on. No point wasting time trying to prove I'm more stubborn than the guy playing the other side. Best to let it go and move on the next match.

Ez answer for you, find the hatch first. If you're late, hide somewhere or do gens to make them distracted then RUNNN!

9 out of 10 times I just let the survivor have the hatch after at least trying to catch them since once they get there the survivor will always win

I usually only wait when they act like a complete spass and idiot. Which usually involves running around me like a bloody moron and breaking their keyboard button for crouch so it looks absolutely idiotic

It's only then I'll sit there and wait until they give up and go for the exit gate

Is it petty? Oh yes absolutely and actually completely out of character for me. Something about it though the spasstic animations. Like nails on a chalkboard to me

What's the alternative? Stand and stare at each other for 40 minutes and still get grabbed? Either accept that you have to take a risk, or go do gens. You can't make the other player do anything, but you can choose what you do.

I could sacrifice the odd stand off if I wanted to... if I was gonna do gens etc... the desperate killers waste far more time than me doing it every match.

Kinda gives people a big incentive to deny 4k if you go to far to want it without earning it properly.

Stand on it, they can never jump into the hatch*. You win.

I've been the only killer to actually do it, non that i have ever gone against has.. i got hell for it too, but considering i went afk and did something else while they circled the hatch trying to get the prompt to appear.. it was worth it in the end.

How do you want to win?

1.) In-game, to escape in that match;
2.) In real life, to waste the minimum ammount of your time durin' the Hatch stand-offs.

- If you escape through the Hatch, you win over the Killer, but lose over yourself, because you won't get that time back.

- If you end it ASAP, either by jumping into it / hitting / (possibly even to DC) the Survivor, you'll lose over the Killer / Survivor, but win over yourself, because you won't waste your time.

You have to choose one of those possible options.
- Two of them lead to your success, the remaining one leads to your failure.
