What do props do?

So when you go to report somebody, there's also a choice to "give props". I've only ever done this around 5 times because I always just assumed it doesn't matter. What does "giving props" do?

Yep. The devs have no way of tracking SWF members once they've joined a killer's lobby (or at least that's what they say) so they could never add something like this or groups would abuse this.

Considering the devs plan to implement their own DBD servers this summer, it's completely possible for them to keep track of parties, unless their game is THAT poorly put together.

It wouldn't be hard to make a system like Overwatch where you can only give props to one person once, then it's not that much of an issue.
