Thoughts on alert perk?
It seems neat to me that even though I play solo survivor I can’t find it truly useful since it doesn’t matter where they are when kicking a gen or pallet. Truth is, I’m going to be working on that gen regardless unless I see someone get hooked or if I hear terror radius.

Am I wrong?

It's essentially like OoO without any of the risk now. You'll be seeing the killers position for most of the game but they won't be seeing you. It's nice to use so that you know where the killer is coming from in solo so that you can stealth but it shines in SWF.

Alert sucks to be honest.

I mean why rely on it when you can just use your ears

And you shouln't be too far anyways cuz you're probably nearby since you were probably working on a gen and skeddadled off once you heard the heartbeat

... a ghost kicking a gen.. you wont see him normaly .. untill he is uncloaking right behind you. So its usefuell. Even in a hunt.. when you hit him with a palette and he breaks it.. you can sneak in the other direction he is going.. to evade him and made him lose you.

its just unnecessary information imo. you dont need to know the exact position when they break something. just use your game sense, ears and eyes

I disagree with those that say it isn't useful..sorry if you think that you're just bad at a stealth/evade build. it can essentially help you plan your strat as the game evolves.

If it was just pallets I would maybe agree but the combo of it triggering off of pallets and gens both is very useful.

I understand though that Self Care and Decisive Strike noobs that don't know how to use any other perks don't get it though.

Well i guess it's not that bad

Good thing i dont plan on being a toxic survivor that runs Self Care,Decisive and Dead Hard every game.

Due to just starting out i only levelled Nea and have her at like 32 right now and i run Balanced Landing,Dark Sense,Premonition and Urban Evasion

I really only run Dark Sense and Urban Evasion cuz i have nothing better

yes, I'm so glad my eyes will work in Lery's when he's playing a stealth killer and I have no idea if he's nearby me or not

Alert gives useful information when you're not in a chase due to the fact that you have his position and know with complete certainty what he's doing in that moment of time. Compare this to Empathy, which is commonly used for the same effect: knowledge.

Alert can also be used in chases to give you just a slight lead on the killer. If you're looping and you hear the cue, you know immediately to leave at that instant, rather than having to hear the pallet break. This, of course, is assuming that you don't have sight on the killer at that given time.

Just because a perk is useful sometimes doesnt mean its always good. Good perks are good in every map, against any killer

I dont need to know what the killer is doing. I just need to know if the killer is going to chase me or not. The rest just doesnt matter

It is a 5 sec aura after a gen/pallet break....you don't need Self Care if you don't get caught.

And you dont need alert if you always keep your eyes open.
Getting caught isnt a bad thing. You want to get chased, just so you can spread all the hooks. If the killer cant find anyone but one survivor, hell quickly just kill that survivor and then youre left with 2 other immersed survivors

Implying you're able to see everything on the map somehow? Like there aren't obstructions and audio doesn't have a radius?

Much like Empathy I find Alert to be useful for awareness and to pinpoint where exactly the killer is, which side of the map, what direction he could possibly be heading, etc. It also lets you know the killer is currently distracted, maybe in a chase.

The solo guys need more information but unfortunately it is in the form of perks when SWF can share that information for free and use their meta perks too. It isn't a wonder its so hard to budge the survivor meta.

Why do I want to see everything on the map? Why do I care what the killer is doing if he isnt behind me?

Exactly! Alert is great against Meyers. Alert also can tell you who the killer is before you see/hear them, or any traps or jigsaw boxes, etc., assuming you know all of the killer's auras.

I do find Alert helpful multiple times throughout a single trial--but I just can't seem to part from Iron Will and Calm Spirit--leaving me with 1 other perk slot if I used those 3 mentioned:
Self Care... Ughh..

Sadly it got kind of boring over time, but in my opinion it's definitely a useful perk.

Its decent but I use empathy on my medic build instead since it pretty much tells me where the killer is at all times during his chases.
