Why all the hate towards Ghostface?
So I recently picked up ghost face and I've been having a pretty good time with him. He's really fun to play assuming your not matched against really good survivors. But ever since I picked him up I've been getting WAY more toxicity then I used to with huntress and I'm not even doing as well on GF as I used to on hunt.

I constantly get people harassing me in post game just for picking GF. Why is this? I was under the impression that he was just a middle of the road killer.

He's a mid tier killer at BEST. The reason people hate him is because his power is boring. You get "outplayed" by holding m2 because dedicated server hit detection is terrible...AND Ghostface has a number of bugs that make him feel unsatisfying to play against:

1. The survivors cant reveal ghostface, now he can just hold m2 and expose you, with dedicated servers this can mean a free down for doing little to nothing.

2. The ghostface can't stalk survivors, but survivors can reveal ghostface and take him out of his power for free. If you're a good survivor on a decent map, you just run around an m1 killer and wait for his power to come back. Pray his power doesn't bug against your favor next time around.

I've played a ton of GF and against GF since dedicated servers came out and havent seen a clear reason to why either of these bugs happen...but they are annoying.

"salt". Another kid who can't think for himself and wants to be part of the cool club.

ontopic: Because he's boring to play against.
Hides his radius and stain, has infinite 1hit downs, and 9 out of 10 times you can't hear his cloak flapping when he's near.

Well.... from my experience as a survivor, almost every single GF I come across after hooking someone hides behind a tree while looking at the hook, once the person gets unhooked they tunnel them and hook them again. That feels pretty crappy when you spend the whole game doing nothing but getting chased. Since it seems to happen so often (at least in my experience) maybe that's why people hate him. I don't know.

A lot of things are just ♥♥♥♥♥♥ about Ghostface. For example, Ghostface can stalk through the corn on the corn maps, but survivors can't reveal him through it. Other times it's completely the opposite. Sometimes you can literally have the center of your screen perfectly on him and the 1 second delay of the game realizing you're staring at him ♥♥♥♥♥ you over.

If his power worked as it should, he would be a pretty mediocre killer.

Ghostface's 0 terror radius is obscenely stupid. He can pick you up off a gen with no hesitation and no terror radius, something even myers can't do. I hate him because he's not fun to play against, and the people that play him are usually ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that either camp or teabag and tunnel. I can count the number of ghostface games i've enjoyed on one hand. He's a miserably thought out killer.

So teabagging hurts your feeling then?

Because they tend to be the most toxic people. Like, one guy has like 5k+ hours and calls himself the best Ghostface NA but he tunnels super hard even though he doesn't need to because he is really good, and is absolutely toxic in the chat. Brags and insults these groups like 10 ranks under him with a 20th of their playtime they they accomplished something lol.

They tend to be awful people, who are the most likely to run mori's, camp/tunnel (Like actually), and they all seem to run noed for some reason.

Then you have his broken mechanics, you are supposed to reveal him by looking at him....that....just flat out doesn't work 90% of the time; or sometimes you are well hidden and it starts revealing him which gives away YOUR hiding spot which is stupid and makes no sense.

A lot of people play him, a lot of people act toxic with him, and his mechanics are not structurally sound. Those are the primary three reasons why.

Ghost face players usually camp and tunnel pretty hard like Leatherface players. There was even a post by someone the other day asking why every Ghost face players like to tunnel off hooks. Ghost face and Leatherface are prob two killers who have bad reputation.

Cause he's strong, almost broken in close maps (and he's the only killer that can tbag survivors)

I'd say it's partly for the same reason as it is for clown or doctor: the design.
People h a t e these killers altough they aren't even considered that good and I often noticed people DCing after they got downed by those. Their design makes them laugh after a successful hit, which rises the salt level. I mean who wants to get made fun of while "dying"?
Similar with GF. He's expected to teabag a downed person and his mori looks personal and spiteful, so I noticed tons of DCs during this. In general, GFs are known to be mean and trolling.

It's just a guess and it is certainly not the only reason, but I think it do has an influence on how people perceive a killer (psychological-wise). There is no way of proper communication between survs and killers so that's just how you'll get judged at first glance.

And then of course all the bugs, people and lags of dbd do the rest.

As long as its not a ghost face that is just waiting at the hook, which happens quite a lot like Gem said, ghostface is actually one of my favourite killers to play against, together with piggy. I love playing against stealth killers, i think not hearing a heartbeat makes the game feel a lot closer to a horror game, since you dont always know when or where they will pop up. (I normally dont run spine chill or premonition)

Survivors hate when they can't clearly tell what's going on. They hate when a ghostface reveal them instantly and they don't know where he is which tends to ""cheap"" oneshots. His power works as intended 80% in a match, but the other 20% is glaring as all hell.

It's also hard to not play ghostface as an asshole as when you get a survivor hooked, there's nothing stopping you from camping a hooked survivor - as the rescuer would immediately be applied Make Your Choice if stalked correctly.

That said however, it doesn't mean that ghostface is unbalanced. He's probably one of the more balanced killers out there. It's just that his counterplay is often time inconsistent, leading to a lot of games where it feels cheap.

I'm a GF main since he got released so I think I can easily tell you why some people hate him so much.

1. His height
Unlike most of the other killers GF is pretty short, which makes it harder to loop him around some loops with high walls + he can hide his red stain and he can also crouch which makes looping even harder.

2. His power
Playing against GF as a survivor can make you pretty paranoid and frustrated, because he can sneak up on you and stalk you without you even noticing or he can just get a "cheap" (surprise) hit or even a gen grab and that makes him pretty op on indoor maps + his power is kinda broken, sometimes you can break him out of his power pretty easily and other times you can look directly at him and nothing will happen (thanks to dedicated servers). He's also the only killer that can properly t-bag survivors.

3. His look, lore and behaviour (this one really depends on what kind of a person the survivor is)
If you look at GF, he's nothing more than a normal dude in a mask with a knife that likes to stalk, torture (mentally) and murder people. It also feels more personal when he's chasing someone, because of the change from simply walking to running, which makes it seems like he's very determined to get that one person. His mori is also very personal since he's literally mocking the person he's killing by taking selfie with them to remember the moment right before they die.

4. People who play as him
Since he can t-bag and his power allows him to camp hooks, people can go max toxic as him. I never met a single toxic GF but I can imagine what it's like to go against a GF that slugs everybody and then t-bags them as they slowly bleed out on the ground (I did it once to a toxic red rank swf)

That's all, hope it helps to answer your question
