Stretched Resolution Make The Game Really Dark?
So I'm currently running 1312x952 before I had 1920x1080 not stretched and it looked a lot brighter?

Just based on the number you're using, there's no doubt that whatever guide or how-to that you're using was written by an idiot that doesn't know what they're doing at all so I'd start by undoing and ignoring everything it said to do lol

I'm guessing you wanted to try 1400x1080 on a native 1920x1080 resolution?
Like I said, good idea to undo everything that was suggested especially if the guide or how-to told you to edit things in GameUserSettings.ini and double especially if they suggested setting "Read-Only" on an ini file because that's 100% clear sign they're utterly clueless.

The correct way:

- Create custom desktop resolution of 1440x1080 or whatever you'd like preferably using Nvidia or AMD's control panel (good idea to use well known common resolutions such as 8:5 (1680x1050) / 4:3 (1440x1080) / 3:2 (1620x1080)

- Switch your desktop to this custom desktop resolution

- Set scaling mode from Aspect-ratio to full-screen unless you're using the same aspect ratio (i.e: 1600x900 on a 1920x1080 etc)

- Change scaling to occur on GPU instead of display (looks far better when using less than native resolutions but display scaling is alright, worth trying both for a game to see how large a difference this makes in quality for you.

- Start DbD.

Play.

* - Nothing needs to be changed in GameUserSettings.ini because the game doesn't care what you put in there it only uses your current desktop resolution so altering it makes zero difference you can literally enter =1 and =1 or whatever numbers or =omgwtflul if you want to and it won't matter.

** - If you really want it to look nice on top of using GPU to do the scaling, use Nvidia's profile inspector to enable Nvidia Quality Upscaling found under the "Other" section.

Thanks! I'll change it soon! I followed this guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oCS4C1m7Rbo I was going for 1440x1080 but I had to follow weird stuff and changed it to 1312x952 since it was suggested to -128 idk lol

Many people say you gotta change a ♥♥♥♥ ton on things on gameusersettings, do -128 on the resolution and a whole other ♥♥♥♥ that makes no sense at all.

Yeah just as I thought it's a guide made by someone that has no idea what they're talking about for multiple reasons.

I dunno what it is about this game but I literally have never found a single guide or how-to that isn't almost all nonsense copy/pasted silly things that don't work, don't do what they say or create issues.

The way I posted is the correct way and 90% of what that guide said to do is silly, wrong and useless.

Biggest clue is the only setting of Read-Only, because it does not and can not force a game to use the contents of the ini, this is trivial to prove in a ton of ways. You could fill up your ini will gibberish or leave it blank, set read-only. Boot game. Game will simply run with defaults, which is exactly what happens when it encounters a line with a disallowed or invalid setting such as (fullscreen=0 for this game).

Things you're allowed to change the game doesn't revert back (examples being bUseVsync and FrameRateLimit among many others).

Yep exactly.

The way I posted above is the correct way and works flawlessly.

Thanks I changed it and it works fine! The brightness still seems lower for some reason when I switch from 1920x1080 to 1440x1080, any fixes?

That's odd. It doesn't do that for me, I even tried just now and it's the same.

Did you make any other changes to your ini's? Maybe your monitor has saved profiles for each resolution?

No.

It looks like it only does that when I select my custom res. I clicked on the other premade res and it doesnt change the brightness. Maybe it's my Elgato messing with my display? my gtx 1080 is plugged into my elgato then my elgato is plugged into my monitor. so when i change my res and stuff it says my display is the elgato. idk if thats affecting anything.
