Rancor Question

Does Rancor still work if your obsession dies? Everytime i'm the Rancor obsession against a Spirit i get absolutely tunneled to all hell. I've never understood it because it seems more useful to keep me alive so you can like, i don't know, see the other survivors and actually use the perk? The only reson it'd make sense is if you can still see everyones auras after i die. Does it do that? Or does it completely stop working? Because it's kind of dumb if it still works without me being alive.

The auras on gen activation thing still works, but there is no target that could get expsed or moried at the end of the game.

So yeah, it still works and that is good.

Really depends on how far along the generators are, if Ruin is still up. I used Rancor + NOED for Spirit so I was going for 2 kills for a safety.

On a huge map like Crotus, you will stand out like a sore thumb. What would you do, run around patrolling generators until they get done one by one or follow the heat trail?

Yes it still works, as for not saving you for last it's just a matter of availability. If you're in my sights I'm not going to let you go just so I can have a chance at you later. I always play assuming it will be a 3k+hatch, with most killers there is no point in preparing for an endgame that may not happen.

i main killer i know how you shouldnt let people go hoping for a chance to see em later. I just didnt know if the spirits were just being dumb or if the skille actually still worked with me dead. Thank you for the asnswers though~

It's the same issue as Pig's traps... just because you have stalled one guy for X amount of seconds doesn't mean he's invulnerable to damage... the faster you get one guy the better for you

But i admit that doing it with Rancor is hard to understand since it's basically a Meyers' Tombstone Piece for free (the killer is either unaware of how Rancor works, something i've seen a fair amoung of times, or scared of losing the obsession, but having Rancor should avoid the latter part so i dunno)

They don't HAVE to kill you later when they can kill you now and still get the benefit of seeing other survivors, except now there's no obsession to point out where they are either.

In all honesty though I imagine killers just use it to see survivors once gens pop instead of something like Bitter Murmur, because technically Rancor isn't aura reading, so no aura reading perks will block it, nor will being in a locker.

It doesn't matter how much perks encourage people not to camp and tunnel, many killers still will, because overly altruistic survivors make it effective. What we need is for survivors to stop rushing for saves, and for everyone to learn to signal camping, and work on gens when they see the signals, instead of sitting behind a rock for 60 seconds hoping the killer might decide to leave.

If you're using it for post-obsession-murder...
I think you'd be better of using Bitter Murmur.

Same detection for gen' completion, minus obsession seeing you or the obsession-slaying effects.

Doesn't have the same range as Rancor tho', only within a range of the generator when it lights up.
