Survivors' Steam usernames revealed - Killer's one hidden
Since the Killer is able to see the Survivors' usernames on the lobby, why is his/her username hidden and not displayed, too? Shouldn't everyone be able to know who they're playing against before the game starts? If not, why bother reveal only the Survivor's usernames?

Survivors are suppose to be at a disadvantage in not knowing what Killer they are playing against till in game all while having to make due with a lack of information as a whole.
That is how things are suppose to work. That is how DbD was built to be. Killers with a slight advantage, Survivors without.
The only advantage a Killer can get by checking a Survivor's profile (and vice versa, if a Survivor could check the Killer's profile) is just whether or not they should dodge them. I don't see any actual gameplay or mechanic advantage from accessing a Survivor's profile (apart from potentially figuring the SwF out of course). It has nothing to do with the lobby (that provides information on the Survivors and their items), which is undeniably reasonable.

Asymmetrical games include in-game advantages and disadvantages. This is a Steam feature that only increases the dodging potential and thus the queue times.

This lead to MASSIVELY long que times for both sides.
Killers do the same ♥♥♥♥. They immediately see a survivor they don't like and then dodge the lobby and then we are all to suffer.
Which is why they should remove it for killers too.

And in exchange, not let dead survivors see the killers perks.

If the killers name is shown survivors would dodge killers they don't like or go on their profile and look who they are playing mainly and only run perks that are the strongest against this killer.
The reason survivor names are shown is something i don't really know as you gain no real advantage knowing their name or going on their profile. Personally i wouldn't mind if they take the names of survivors out as like i said doesn't matter if you can see them or not

Here is a good solution;

Don’t give anyone access to anyone’s user names. They can talk to each other in the end of game chat.

The killers name will just be “hillbilly” or something and the survivor name would simply be “Claudette” (as an example, of course)

So Killers are allowed to abuse it by dodging, but Survivors are not?

Cheers to that!

To be honest, there is an advantage: the Killer can check their profiles, which means:
  • they can check their comment section for feedback (potentially by other DbD players, mainly Killers), regarding "rep";
  • they can access their friends list and see if they're SwF with other Survivors.
That's why an increasing number of Survivor profiles is getting private.

It still works streamers use the recent player list.

Reps mean absolutely nothing most people that write them give you - reps because you didn't play like they wanted.
Regarding swf yeah could be used for that but you can often also see if they are swf when multiple survivors join at the same time

-1, Survivors are just skins, giving away what killer it is will prevent certain killers from getting games.

Not exacly m8 atm its very hard if not Impossible to ser the Diference between swf and random. Normaly evento if the 4 are random them Will entre on the exacly same momento.

So a big % of the time a Killers Dodge. Because are a suposed swf can not be.

That won't be the case anymore due to the new matchmaking system which will load Survivors at the same time.

I think they mean post chat.
You only get to see the Killer's name but not in the lobby.

If that is the case I'll remove the -1.

Especially since people can tailor their message boards and delete comments they don't like.
