Generally don't recommend corrupt intervention because personally it kinda screws you over of finding survivors early on if you're unlucky.
Like this tip a lot! I don't have corrupt intervention so that thankfully wont be an issue to avoid. I do wish I had Infectious Fright, I find that on really useful on aggressive killers like him. Maybe I'll get a lucky shrine after I'm done splurging on cosmetics.
Thanks!
The Oni is pretty simple to learn, injuring survivors in the beginning levels up your blood fury initiation, it has a passive recharge anyways, but injuring survivors and absorbing blood orbs are way better. Once you fully have your blood fury leveled up, you can choose when you want to activate it, I mostly activate it when a survivor is healthy or if I need map pressure.
Now when your about to hit a survivor with demon dash, close corners and loops are your enemy, never attempt a demon dash attack in loops until the mid chapter update drops. Other than that, use demon dash for map pressure or to gain distance if a survivor is farther than you.
Now when you hit a survivor with demon strike keep in mind you only need to hold for 2 precise seconds to fully charge it, as an advanced Oni, I dont need to hold it forever, for beginners though I would recommend to hold demon strike longer to kind of make sure you can land it safely because it does have an extended lunge after no matter how long you hold demon strike.
Renjiro's Bloody Glove(red) and Splintered Hull(purple). Higher rarity items but the glove lets survivors touching and absorbing the blood orbs to have their aura revealed for 2 secs for each blood orb absorbed by them. Splintered hull makes survivors drop more blood orbs. Good combo to find survivors. Till you go into blood fury mode.
Lion Fang(purple) will increase how long blood fury will last.
Course this is if you choose or have the add-ons to use.
Also I suggest unless you are an area where the survivor is paused. I say absorb the blood orbs after chase. Since it slows you down. Also always remember that you can break pallets in blood fury mode. So finding a survivor happy to waste pallets during blood fury can get rid of them quickly.
Why you can heal easily because of blood orbs.
Tips about add-ons and combos are always especially appreciated, thank you! And thanks to Odium for the tips about being mindful of charge times and loops, thank you both.
A few of the less costly blood point add-on combos are Yakuyoke Talisman(brown) and Bloody Sash(yellow). The talisman is for increasing the speed of how fast the blood orbs are drawn to you as you absorb them. While the sash allows your movement speed during blood absorption to be so slow. Making it more feasible to absorb blood mid chase. Blackened Toenail(brown) also increases movement speed during blood absorption and it will stack with the sash so that is an option as well.
Cracked Sakazuki(brown) and Ink Lion(yellow) both do the same thing. Reduce the time it takes to activate and deactivate blood fury. With Ink Lion bringing an extra effect of decreasing the penalty of downing a survivor with demon strike. So these two stacking lets you go into and out of bloody fury fairly well.
But yeah when in doubt stacking effects helps out when you are low on add-ons and wanna use some.
Iridescent Family Crest is a red add on I wanna talk about. It is an interesting one where when you miss with a demon strike you will cause survivors to scream within 12 meters. So if you ever slam your big club on the ground. Survivors scream like with infectious fright within 12 meters. Now this doesn't sound the most useful but it does have two uses.
One is if you hook someone and can activate blood fury right after. Slam the ground near the hook and see if there are any hiding survivors near by trying to get a save after you dash off. Two is if you just downed a survivor with blood fury and think another might be by and you don't have infectious on. You can give the ground another smack to try to deter any flash light save or start a snowball of slugs.
Hard chase perks also work well, such as Rancor, Fire Up, Bamboozle, and Enduring; Oni is effectively a Hillbilly on roids while his power is up, and these perks help him get hits while his power is down.
Exposure perks aren't that great for Oni, since his entire gimmick is getting one-shot downs anyways. They help him when his power is down, but you should be getting one or two downs per power usage anyways.
Keep in mind that his special lunge lets him get cheeky hits through windows and pallets more easily than any other Killer, but is easily stuffed out by object corners. Also, the extra angry pounds he does on a successful hit aren't just for show; the extra slams will instadown any Survivors that make the mistake of getting near, so he can punish unsafe unhooks with a double knockdown. The slam also comes out fastest from his Demon Dash sprint, so don't cancel the sprint unless you're absolutely certain it would miss. Once flicking is back, you can stop a lot of loops and dodge attempts just by flicking. Finally, while his power is up, you can still do a wide basic attack for one damage state if a particularly tricky Survivor keeps dodging the slam.
While his power is up, prioritize getting multiple survivors, if possible. If you've slammed one and another is sprinting away, hold off on hooking and go for the second down unless they're hitting a strong loop and your power is almost out of time.
However you can still look at perks and add-ons he has that are good.
Scalped Topknot is his best add-on. By far.
Crutch is ironically pretty crutch in itself. Really good add-on.
I like Splintered Hull, it provides more blood orbs for me to suck up.
For perks, Infectious Fright is a must. If you want to be serious, you should always have infectious. Your other perks can involve anti healing or just the usual stall perks, (Pop, Corrupt, Thrilling etc).
