Dead By Daylight: Age Appropriate?
I'm looking into buying Dead By Daylight but I gotta know, will someone who does not meet the mature rating (17+) be okay with playing it? I wanted actual player experience so if you have any input based on the gameplay, amount of blood and gore, etc, it'd be greatly appreciated!
Edit: Thanks for the input everyone!

It won't be due to violence why this game is age restricted but more like due to the fact they may not be able to handle how toxic this community. So a very strong thick coat of mature skin will be needed to endure it.

Mostly blood. Limb severing barely exists, only finger cutting.

Oh yeah, some killing animations can be gory like the killer Hag who bites her victim and then thrusts her claws to its stomach and eating it.

Mostly slashings.

This^

In terms of other player toxicity, you have to be a total nihilist and feel no remorse to them.

This is mainly cartoony violence IMO, no real gore or intensely graphic violence. Just cartoony blood spurts and screams.

Meg's and Laurie's screams sounds legit to me.

They are alright, I find Jake's pretty funny and Detective Tapps is just rediculous.

Jake sounds like he's falling off a cliff.

Meg's and Laurie's though, you can feel the pain.

For sure can't recommend to this anyone under the age of 13. It is rage inducing so unless the child is exceptionally mature or exceptionally disturbed they will cry a lot.

Well you don't see much blood on the survivor side except for blood trails. For killer you get some on your screen sometimes when you hit survivors, blood trails, and some of the moris. There's cow and pig carcasses, but they don't drip blood or anything. There's blood on the walls on some of the maps, but again it doesn't drip.

There are sounds like being hit with a chainsaw or hooked, which to me sound like squirting ketchup out of a bottle. There's screaming, but it's just that screaming.

There isn't foul language unless you count usernames and stuff people type in chat. You can dodge end game chat easily by just leaving, but if you play survivor then you have to see it. Honestly language is probably your biggest concern when it comes to this game and "Is it appropriate?" Any bad thing you can say, I've seen it in chat or in a username.

My brother started playing dbd when he was like 13yo and he was completely okay. Everything was more funny than scary 4 him

Game itself would probably be fine for 13+, maybe 15+ if you wanted to be safe.

It's the community itself that's the real problem. But that can be said about the entirety of the internet itself. There have been people who would add me only to give death threats, or threaten my family, or say they have my IP and were gonna hack me, simply because I beat them. Of course these are nothing but empty threats but they could seem real to someone not used to that kind of thing.

If your kid can't handle being bullied or insulted, I would highly advise to not buy it for them at all. If you don't know if they can or not, then I would still advise to not buy it for them. If they know enough to take the insults more as a joke or in stride and laugh at people trying to threaten them and know to not take it seriously, then it should be fine and may even be more entertainment value, to be honest.

Being told that you should kill yourself or that they hope your mother gets cancer is a semi frequent thing in this game unfortunately.
