Rin Yamaoka(The Spirit) was originally chosen to be a survivor?

All the killers in the game, started killing during their life, but Rin did not kill anyone during her life.
I mean, she was a girl full of strength and hope despite how hard her life was. At the moment she was going to die the Biography says that she was covered by a dark fog like many other survivors.

"A dark Fog slowly veiled her eyes, but it could not subdue her rage. She would not rest--not yet. The darkness whispered, promising blood and revenge."

I believe that his father was going to be a killer for the entity, because the same darkness was already dominating him, but the entity saw in his daughter more potential because of the hatred and anger that flooded her, also she had already lost hope, which was what the entity wanted.

I remember reading somewhere that some survivors become killers when they lose all hope, maybe Rin was a case that happened immediately.

Vengeful spirits. Most Japan's horror entities are caused by vengeance so I can see why she's mad.

If it is truly not depression and the entity playing on rin Yamaoka and her father, this open new power that the entity did not have

I will be honest I originally thought the killer was going to be the samurai that killed her and the she was going to be the survivor. But oh well. She is still a really cool one.

And yes vengeful spirits are common in Japanese horror/legend/folklore. Same with Oni who are basically unkillable and eat/torment people.
