Halloween Event: DBD vs R6 Siege
A quick comparison between the two events so you DBD only fans can see how lucky/ripped off you're getting compared to other gamers. I'd be glad to hear your opinions/conclusions too. Was this event good/fun/decent or a money grab?

Number of New Cosmetics

In DBD there are 21 total cosmetic items: 5 weapons and 16 killer and survivor skins.
In Siege there are 22 total cosmetics: 10 operator skins and 12 weapons and charms

Number of Free/Grindable Cosmetics

In DBD, you can grind up to 6 free items and choose which ever items you like from the shop.

In Siege, you receive 1 free random cosmetic (mine was for a character i haven't bought) and up to 2 more items, again random items. The rest can only be accessed through buying more random loot packs.

Cost to Purchase New Cosmetics

In DBD, you can choose to buy any one cosmetic for about $4, or buy a set of 3 for one character for about $11. Again, you can pick and choose the one's you like. But to buy them all would cost approximately $70, or $50 if you grinded the free packs.

In Siege, to buy the remaining 21 loot packs to get everything would cost $50. But the key difference here is that to get one specific item through loot packs would cost an average of $25 with no grind, or $22.50 with the grind.

The Events themselves

DBD's has been a real challenge for survivors, perhaps poorly thought out given how often times survivors care more about the grind than the match itself. Also the event was within the main game, so there was no way to avoid it.

In Siege, the event was separate. And while the effects were very cool and interesting, the match consisted of the same 10 operators and map and mode every time, the map was too dark and people were mainly just playing to grind, not to have fun.

Other Differences

Siege cleverly allowed all the new cosmetics in the special event by default, so anyone playing it could see and enjoy the cosmetics and this probably led to more sales.

Also i believe this event in DBD was used for research, to see how much extra strain survivors can bare while still competing. Perhaps it'll be used to justify extra things we can do in game.

Conclusion

I would say both events were OK/kinda good but far from great.

The cosmetics are pretty damn cool in both games, though i'll hand it to Siege for the variety (DBD's are kinda repetitive)

DBD did at least come with a story, videos and the event offered a real challenge for survivors, while not much of one for killers.

But the main point of all this: while DBD fans were probably right to be annoyed at getting only 3 grindable items, they can think themselves lucky for being able to buy what they want and only what they want, rather than have to buy random loot packs!

Final score:

DBD: B-
Siege: C

In Siege i can become Operators for free totaly easy since launch and it is about 1 week maybe 2 of grinding.

in Dbd its possible since 2 mounth maybe 4 and it costs like 2 month playing.

Siege is Balanced and a Masterpiece

Dbd has zero Balance and needs lots of Patches

And btw since there was a message every day in the event and 3 Videos
i was hoping for a new killer on Helloween.

What a bummer.

Oh sure im not comparing the quality of the two base games. Or their price tag or game mode variety etc. Just purely the halloween events, the cosmetics and the cost/grind to unlock. Theyre pretty similar, but with a few key differences.

Dbd grind is around 80 matches probably to get 6/21 cosmetics.

Siege is a lot more dependent on skill. If a player averages 1 kill per round then 60 x 4 min rounds. But it could be a lot more.

Well i think we can't know the value or lack of from an event unless we compare to others.

So for example, it occured to me that the DBD community was up in arms about the cynical cash grab from BHVR, while the Siege community has been far more quietand accepting of what's on offer.

However, when i got to analysing the grinds, the cost per cosmetic and especially the way in which you unlock them, i came to realise we on DBD should be fairly thankful that of 21 new cosmetics, we can have any 6 we want for free and the rest are $4 each. While on Siege, you get a free one and 2 can be earned - but all are random.

I don't know if we are just too smart/demanding on DBD. Or if Siege is just such a juggernaut that the community can't be brought together in unity over something like this.
