Changing the Heartbeat sound?
I have a friend who has anxiety that wants to play the game but the heartbeat sound makes them very anxious, is there a way to change the heartbeat to a different sound and if so is it against the tos?

When I started the game and the noises stressed me out I ran object of obsession to always see the killer and then turned off my volume. It might work pretty well for your friend. Other than that like somebody else said try spine chill, maybe both.

Benny hill music should be more appropriate.

I know where their coming from, as I have pretty bad anxiety myself and a fear of horror in general. I'd say have them watch the games for a bit and have them do the tutorial. I quit my first time in the tutorial myself when it first poped a killer behind you from the anxiety, but have them ease into it. Play with them as well to help comfort it a bit and so there's comunication in the game. After you've played it a bit I came to realize it's not all that scary. Plus watching some great youtube survivors that seem a bit more casual about it (No0b3 was my person) it really helped me realize it's not something too be all that anxious about. Or you can have them play as the killer too >:D Aside from that, if the noise itself is a trigger still.. I can't say there's much to do about that.

I feel for your friend, it cant be easy to play with anxiety, like others have said its not possible to change sounds in the game without risking a ban.

One thing to try is listening to the DBD sounds on youtube for example, maybe this will help them become more used to them as the horror aspect of this game quickly dissapears and you see it as just a pvp game.

While this can help this person's friend. I would suggest taking it with caution and being slowly eased into it. Otherwise it could have a adverse effect.

no I get that it wont, but what about the people that would replace other files?
Like from the killer perspective, what if you replace the gen sound for something cleaner, you could make it so you could hear surviver moans more clearly through the new gen sound.
Hell replace the moaning as well for something that stands out a lot more.

Sound is an important part of the game (sometimes sadly becuase i love listening to music while playing games) and allowing people to change that freely would quickly mess up balance.

But yeah it would be nice if the devs were a bit more inclusive, providing alternatives to sounds so they still control the balance and also stuff like colour blindness support etc.

Change the survivors breathing and footsteps to Navi from Legend of Zelda and Killers would go into a blood rage in no time flat.

Someone actually believes they would change something like that because of ONE GUY.
Wow...just ....wow ! If you friend has this type of issues, maybe he should avoid this type of games?

You're worried about someone with anxiety playing a horror game?

I guess have them mute the game?

Or play on a tv speaker? Quietly?
