Why am I not getting the flashlight save?

I don't use flashlights often, but this happened to me twice now... out of the two times I tried to flashlight save. So I run up to the killer when he picks up the survivor, point my flashlight into his face, get the points for "killer blind" but no flashlight save. So if I blinded him why wasn't the guy saved? How does it work?

You don't get the save if you blind the killer during the pick up animation. You have to time it so the killer gets blinded right as the animation is finished and he can move again. It takes practice. A good tip is trying to count to three before starting a flashlight save as the blind time is one second while the pick up animation lasts four seconds.

A blind takes 1.33 seconds... the whole pick-up animation takes 4.33 seconds.

there is a fight through window for the killer if you breath on him with it they can hit you and avoid the stun.
