What the hell is a splinter offering?
I've been learning a lot about dbd lately. But i've heard talk about splinter offerings that can allow you to be killers even if you havent bought them. For example, being the shape without buying the halloween DLC. Is this real? or was it something that happened a while ago.

It...is...I think.

It *may* have been removed in literally the last update where you can now buy the killers for "free" with the in-game currency.

I own all the DLCs so I haven't gotten splinters in a long time (they were supposed to only spawn if you had unpurchased killers) so I can't tell you for sure if they have been removed or not.

I think they might have been but if so, it was a recent change.

i just got a shard for the pig even though i already own her. so yes its still avaiable

This is actually ironic. The same thing literally just happened to me. I've never seen one before, but i just got one even though i already own the pig

The Splinter Offerings are still in the game, but they only offer the killer that you don't have. For example I have Splinter Offering on Freddy Krueger to become The Doctor (I didn't had Spark of Madness DLC at the time). Splinter Offering basically work as a demo, you can try the killer and maybe you will like him and actually buy him. It's very good marketing strategy. (I actually bought the Spark of Madness DLC just because of that)

It's when you really don't want to buy a killer, but they are going to waste a ultra rare slot on your bloodweb to push it in your face anyway.
