It was a sad day indeed :(
Even before the Nerf he was worse than Wraith.
I disagree with some of his assertations that he is impossible to escape, but I agree with the overall idea that I doubt *anyone* is really happy with Freddy as he is. He needed a complete rework to make his power more dynamic and skill based for both sides, rather than being dumpstered.
His power and drawback basically affect raw mechanical advantage in hunting and chases, positively affecting hunting and negatively affecting chases. The issue is unless his hunt power is so good that it basically makes chases never end, which is borring and ♥♥♥♥♥♥, the fact he is so disadvantaged in closing out chases and winning too hard.
Doc, I think, is about as powerful a pure detection character should be in the realm of detection, and even HE has a minor chase power. Amping up detection and hunting at the cost of chase even more makes Freddy 'Lopsided' which compromises the experience.
Imagine a character in a shooter who had 1 HP but could instantly kill anyone as well in a game where movement is clunky so dodging isn't realistic: The fundemental concept is too out there and there is no balance point where such a character is useful while also being fun to play against.
Freddy is in a similar spot. I think anyone with a brain agrees he needs a power INCREASE, but his core concept of his power being "You can run but you can't hide" is kinda garbage, where as Doc's "You can hide but you better do it damn well or else you don't get to hide ever again" is really neat.
Naw these people know what they're doing, shame a player to try and invalidate thier point, so they can keep thier ez BP farm killers
Myers and Wraith do his job better.
Doctor? What about him? typically survivors spawn TOGETHER. And when you hear 2-3-4 screams together you can only chase one. He finds people one time unless they are dumb and can’t manage madness.
As for a crutch? crutches reward failure, DS rewards getting caught. BT I used as a extra hit in most cases, but it’s not ALWAYS a crutch, it can still be used for its intended purpose stopping camping.
As for a Insidious LeatherFace? If we want to get down to it, it’s not a crutch because you have to find AND catch someone the HOPE survivors are dumb, you didn’t fail in killing unless you never caught someone to begin with.
You don’t automatically fail in finding someone if you use Freddy or Doctor. It’s a side-affect of playing them, kinda like B&C with points.
I dunno if I’m making any sense, I’m really tired and kinda just spewing nonsense really.
