In a group which included a skinny accountant and a lazy college student; if we give Bill credit for enduring a zombie apocalypse, how do we explain half that team? What it means is that working together, not all the L4D survivors had to be physically strong and Francis was by far the muscle going by appearance. They survived because they were immune to the outbreak and were resilient, but there's no measure of strength that can be gauged.

They fought off hordes of the undead, who were faster than the normal variant of zombies other medias show, not to mention Tanks. If by skinny accountant you mean Louis pretty sure his background talked about him keeping in shape by workouts or something like that. Zoey was at least healthy and fit so she gets a minor pass.

Well, does it bother you that reality dictates putting the odds on Dwight being stronger? It seems to bother you. For some reason you need Meg to be stronger.

And no, Meg being stronger than Dwight wouldn't bother me. The Devs could simply say that Meg is stronger and kick Dwights butt in a fight and I would be satisfied. It's fiction, so clearly Dwight would be an unusually weak and timid man for his size, an outlier among men who would lose to a girl who likes to run around as an "athlete."

But I must confess, it generally bothers me that people simply make up their own reality. That's the more intriguing thing to me.

This is how I see it.


Realistically.

Fastest
Meg, as an athlete.
Nea as a criminal.

Strongest/ endurance wise
David as a bar brawler.
Bill, he survived the Outbreak.
Tapp, he was a beat cop for a long time and the Saw game and side stories suggest he can still whip your ass.
Quinton , being on meth and ephedrine and still being concious is a real skill.
Ace, he's a high stakes gambler, of course he's got his assbeat for being broke.

Strongest/ Physically.
Jake, you need a certin level of strength to manage in the woods alone.
David, clearly he lifts.

Averrage Strength.
Dwight, he has the perfect " average boy" build.
Laurie, she's perfectly average.

Weakest Physically.
Feng, the highest impact thing she possibly did before this was snorting coke and flopping on a futon before rough sex.
Claudette, she's too smart for this and probably took Music rather than Gym

Merge 'average' and weakest: what is average IS weak. People are living much easier and sedentiery lives than any have before, with 'blue collar' now meaning retail, office and call centres for men. The only men not working out but who have anything like what most would consider normal strength are working in construction, civil engineering or waste disposal. At this low-end of the scale, men are almost as weak as women because women are working in care roles, hospitality and cleaning which are jobs that have not disappeared nor have they got less labour-intensive.

Dwight as an 'average boy' is weak. Laurie trains. Meg trains. Claudette would spend a lot of time moving soil in bags, which are heavy. A research botanist isn't looking at a few plants; the physical part of the job is basically manual agriculture. I may even have underestimated her.

Generally men are stronger than women: even 'normal' men have 30% higher grip-strength than very athletic women, but for whole-body strength conditioning matters more than specific body parts. The largest muscles are in the legs for example and women's legs are much stronger than men's. Individually most muscles are stronger in men, but it doesn't mean a thing if how they connect around the skeleton doesn't allow them to be used in conjunction and that is where women can match men, with conditioning. Having longer legs in ratio with their bodies puts emphasis on muscles which are already stronger than any of the muscles in a man's body. In a deadlift of weight, men are trying to avoid putting strain on their back and lift with the legs. Women instinctively lift like that any way because the torso tends to be shorter than their legs, the only thing that holds them back is the lower grip-strength.

Dwight is as strong as Feng at the most.

Geez, finally someone with a brain. Of course the men would all slaughter the women in a fight. There may be the case where a really gritty girl goes after a truly weak-willed, noodly sort of man but there's no reason to think that kind of extreme case is going on here, even with Dwight. Dwight looks like he could get scrappy when backed into a corner and let's face it, as a male nature gave him more to work with than these ladies have.
