Behaviour Interactive buys DbD Publishing Rights

Well well well. I'm getting some flashbacks to Payday 2 about 2 years back. Not quite the same scenario this time around, but interesting stuff, devs. Interesting stuff.

Guess we know what the big announcement is.
Well, there's the big announcement.

I'm guessing this is in response to the Lunar New Year fiasco where a broken-as-butt build was launched on all platforms and tanked consumer satisfaction scores.

Hopefully this means we'll see better balancing, and no more rushed DLC or patches.

So what does this mean? I can only assume it's a good thing.

Probably faster procedures for a lot of things, including updates.
Maybe for the best or the worst, hard to tell.

I wonder if a member of Behaviour could shed some light on what this means for DbD's future, if it has any impact at all. I remember being super nervous when Actvision "partnered" with (see: bought) Blizzard.

Now we have Cratewatch, a team based shooter.

Does this basically mean the developers now have full discretion on the direction this game can take? If thats the case this is a very good thing.

It means they are responsible for publishing their game themselves instead of starbreeze, this means that the devs have more control over what they can do as they dont have to worry about a third party publisher saying anything, an example is payday 2, when Overkill took publishing rights over payday the game improved alot, less paid DLC and better ballance.

Yes. Starbreeze no longer has a say in the game's balance decisions. Whether this is good or bad or how significant the impact will be, only time will tell. I do have hopes but great expectations lead to great disappointments.

The devs get to make their own decisions instead of daddy starbreeze.
