there isnt timing. picking up someone is a lonnnngggg animation, purple flashlighters, just pop out of the bushes and quick shine and you drop. this forces slug games.
they do require timing again, op survivors have a habit of going down next to objects if possible face your nearest wall or obstacle when picking up
if you're out in the open then you can try using frankln's and bait the pickup, if they were to "nurf" flashlights in its current state it would be totally useless
you can also look up btw
Lightborn, Franklin's Demise, Overwhelming Presence. Check
You just need to learn to counter them at this point.
Even if it takes skill to blind the Killer to drop a Survivor, it's still a bad mechanic because the Killer has no means to defend himself. Yes, huddling against a wall helps (but not always) but it doesn't change the fact that a Killer HAS to do this because he himself is defenseless against a good Survivor with a Flashlight. It's just not fair that the Survivors can take advantage of the Killer while he's in animation.
The Killer should have a grace period after his pick-up animation where he can't be stunned by a flashlight or pallet that lasts for like two seconds. Survivors should only be able to stun the Killer when the player is fully in control of his character.
They could even bring back faster blind times to compensate and make blinding a mobile Killer easier. The problem with Flashlights was never how fast they blinded (okay, it kinda was, but ignoring that for a moment), but rather they tended to happen while the Killer was stuck in animation with no agency to fight back. The Killer should never be in a position where he must huddle against something to shield himself against Survivor advances.
Nerf : a few patches ago.
They already got nerfed multiple times, at one point they were OP, then they got nerfed. Then there were insta blinds, and those got removed. Now that instablinds are gone, lightborn gives you enough time to react before getting blinded and dropping the survivor.
