How I try not to be stressed
First of all, I'm sorry for all that text, I know that Dead by Daylight players don't like to read that much. (Just kidding, heh)

Hello, I feel like more and more people get emotional attached by playing Dead by Daylight, for a good reason. It can make us angry, frustrated and sometimes some of us might even get a burn-out. Dead by Daylight can even make you feel humiliated and it's important to not get stressed out because at the end of the day, it's a videogame, and videogames are supposed to be fun, which is sadly not always possible. I think I wanted to make this mostly for killers, since getting frustrated as a killer is in my opinion on a very different level than survivor, but survivors can try it too, sure! With the time I've learned to compensate all those uncomfortable feelings and I'd love to share it with you guys. This is not a thread to talk about balance or game mechanics you wish to be changed in whatever way, so, here I go, this is what I do to not get stressed as a killer.

1) I do not FULLY concentrate on Dead by Daylight. This might sound stupid but it helps you alot to stay calm and by being calm you make better decisions. Watch something funny/entertaining while you play, I've been watching stuff like Rick and Morty, Family Guy, my personal entertaining Streamers/YouTubers, whatever you like. (Maybe music aswell? Your choice!)

2) Try not to think about it. I know it can be really hard but don't make it much more uncomfortable than it already is. Try to avoid these thoughts such as "They're gonna loop. Probably SWF who will bully me. God I don't wanna hear their ironic gg when I lost the game. Decisive..." Never expect the worst, same goes for survivors. Survivors can feel frustrated aswell but have a more calming experience in my opinion. I don't want to keep any survivor main out so it does work aswell when you get tunneled/camped 5 times in a row.

3) Deep breaths, calm your body. Ate another pallet? Take a deep breath. Flashlights? Take a deep breath. "GG EZ XD"? Take a deep breath. Nurse with NOED? Take a deep breath. Camped? Take a deep breath. Got it?

4) Breaks. Take breaks after you've been through a tough game, drink something, answer some messages on your phone, do something little to come down. It's not healthy to start another game directly after you've experienced an unfun game, so take your breaks and listen to your mother to not to stare on that nasty "internet-computer-thingy with all the blood-games you play!".

So, that's basically what I do and since I do that, Dead by Daylight has become alot more fun to me to enjoy it moderately, not constantly. If you have any other ideas, I'd love to hear it.

Your stupid-♥♥♥ Myers main,

I would add that its important to keep in mind that swf/items/add ons/offering/ and rng can all play a big part in the outcome. So if you get a bad outcome, it might not even be your fault. Watch some of the best streamers get the exact same thing happen and remember its not really a competitive game. It can be survival horror in solo queue. Or it can be a bully sim with swf.

Smoke jazz cigarettes and sip whiskey. Eventually everything is either rainbows or huge piles of ♥♥♥♥. Either way you're not stressing over DbD anymore.

For me it works when i play other games, at least during 90% of my game time. Mostly singleplayer games, i've never enjoyed them as much as after playing DbD (Killer).

Good advice! Its clear youve played both sides a lot and understand the most commonly frustrating experiences on both.

I love this advice and I feel it is something everyone can benefit from. It can be really difficult to keep calm when you lose to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ but it is what it is. I personally love tip number one. Dividing your attention might seem counter intuitive but when you focus hard on the game you pay more attention to the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and it can make you rage. I think this is why truetalent is so calm even if he is losing to loopers and D strike. He is occupied by interacting with his chat and answering questions which keeps his mind off the game.
For me it works when i play other games, at least during 90% of my game time. Mostly singleplayer games, i've never enjoyed them as much as after playing DbD (Killer).

Plus within those max. 10% DbD mostly Survivor games. Does it work? Yes. Is it sad? Yes.

Unfortunatley the level of toxicity in this game is right up there. Post game chat for example, if you do well you get abused and if you do bad you get bullied/humiliated. It just shows the level of mentality of the majority of users on this game, specifically in the higher ranks where the need to sweat out every game and tryhard as much as you can. It's particuarly bad with SWF groups who feel it's acceptable to verbally abuse or just insult the killer for no specific reason at all. It's the main reason why I don't play much killer because of the lack of respect some people show. and also, as a result of SWF group behaviour it makes killer just not a fun experience to jump onto.

I mean, if you have to go through all these rituals in order to play this game, it might be time for a long break / quit permanently.

Some of us have finally begun to do that. Including streamers. Taking a break really helps a lot.

Rituals? Just trying to give some people tips, I‘m sorry but these are just normal things to not get triggered.

.....I just play the game. If I win I win. If I lose I lose. Cant have every game go my way with either killers or survivors.

Taking this game so seriously is a bad idea to begin with. Just like life in general, when people get so upset over minucia, they are the problem, not the game or the situation.

Just quit the game if you rage or get stressed. Trust me, there are much better games out there than this one.
I write “gg. Have a nice day“ after the game, whatever happened often. Most killers write it back and i get happy and want to play another round.

This is what I try and do as both killer and survivor. Even if the match did not go my way I will write gg, thank them for the game and wish em good luck in their next round.

I only type gg when I feel like it was a fun match for everyone. If the killer gets no hooks, it's not gg. If the killer camps, it's not gg either.
