How Does "Make Your Choice" Work?

I have Make Your Choice. It never seems to work. No matter how close I am to the survivor, it never seems to trigger the "Exposed" status for them and not nearly in the amount of time it claims.

Is there a prerequisite I'm missing?

You need to be 32 meters away from the hook as the unhooking happens for it to trigger. Then you gotta hit the unhooker in a 60s timeframe.

Make Your Choice only activates if you attack the Survivor Who Rescued A Hooked Victim While You were Greater Than 32 Meters Away, after which point the Rescuer, and only the rescuer, suffers from Exposed until the effect wears off.

You will not be able to identify which Survivor is actually Vulnerable unless you see the rescue occur, but the Perk icon will trigger a cool down when it activates (letting you know that someone is Exposed, and for how much longer).

However, since the perk Will Not Activate if you are too close to the hooked victim when they are rescued, consider employing a wide patrol around the victim to try and catch his rescuer as they leave the area.

I'm not quite sure about what's misleading in the in-game description :

When a Survivor rescues another from a Hook at least 48/40/32 metres away from you, Make Your Choice triggers and applies the Exposed Status Effect on the rescuer for 60 seconds.

Make Your Choice has a cool-down of 60 seconds.

As long as you are further than 32 meters away from a hooked Survivor the instant they are rescued, Make Your Choice Will Activate.

It Only does not Activate if you are Too Close to a hooked victim when they are rescued.

At rank I, you have to be 48 meters away. At rank 2, you have to be 40 meters away. At rank 3, you have to be 32 meters away.

If you're sufficiently far away when someone is rescued, the savior is Exposed for 60 seconds, allowing you to down them in one hit.

Ah alright. The desciption said "Within 40 meters" so I kept getting confused as in that was how close I needed to be in order for it to apply

If you are FURTHER than the indicated distance, it will activate. Otherwise, it won't. Meaning you must be far away from the survivor. Once it activates the perk symbol will be lit up and have a cooldown on it

Pick it on the others if you feel like not try-harding that much.
