The Truth: DBD Is Really, Really Bad
This game is an absolute disaster created by a team previously best known for Xbox license tie-ins and mobile games (seriously, look up BHVR Interactive and take a look at their game history). Their PR has consistently involved sarcasm, condescending responses to player questions, and a general attitude of "Well, we made the game so we know better than you." The game itself is full of disastrous spaghetti code and balance issues so severe that it makes me think nobody at BHVR even playtests. Let's get into it, shall we?

**BUGS**

Put simply, there are too many bugs to even list here. Some are minor visual issues, while some are major game-breaking glitches (such as Survivors being able to fit through some passages while Killers cannot). Queueing as a Survivor doesn't even work half the time, and I couldn't tell you why. The devs don't care. If they did, there would be REGULAR patches addressing these problems, but instead we get pointless (and frankly cringy) QA streams every Thursday where all Matthieu "I Play With a Controller" Cote can do is tell us about what has been "planned" for the last four months. Hey, remember that issue a while back where people were literally LOSING ALL OF THEIR PROGRESS and it took BHVR a month to figure out a system for it, and even then, losing your save twice would leave you SOL? Yeah. Great developers.

**BALANCE**

At low ranks, Killers are ridiculously overpowered. I honestly wouldn't even recommend you play as a Survivor if you've just installed the game, because you're going to get absolutely destroyed. At the higher ranks however, the balance flips completely - Survivors are insanely overpowered and are so unbelievably strong that they can mock and toy with the Killers without being in any serious danger. Pallet mechanics are broken and teleport Survivors to the other side immediately upon the spacebar being pressed, making it virtually impossible for Killers to outplay them. Pallet looping has been in the game SINCE LAUNCH and remains one of the most frustrating, unfun, and immersion-breaking tactics I've ever seen in a multiplayer game. What was BHVR's response to this? Yeah, let's just make it so Killers get a flat speed increase the longer they're in a chase so all Survivors are screwed, not just the ones pallet looping. God forbid they actually change the maps so that pallets are more scarce - that would, of course, require some actual effort. You know your game's balance is completely borked when playing as a KILLER is more stressful than playing as a Survivor.

**GRAPHICS**

This is the most hideous UE4 game I have ever played, period. Even on Ultra, textures are muddy and look like they were ported from an Xbox 360 game. Physics mechanics are broken, with capes/coats routinely getting stuck in torsos for no apparent reason. Why does everything have this weird glisten all the time? It looks like somebody coated the entire game in a sheet of plastic and then dumped a bucket of oil on it. They couldn't even get the blood/gore effects right in their HORROR game - the first time I saw an execution, it looked like red blobs with three polygons at the most were exploding from somebody's chest. Absolutely dreadful visuals all around.

**HACKS**

Here's a fun fact - did you know there's actually no way to prevent players from skipping the progression system entirely using cheats? It's true. Just set your profile private and you can hack your Bloodpoints to your heart's content. BHVR doesn't care until you dare challenge them in their super private Discord server - oh no, THEN they'll ban you.

**COMMUNITY**

Don't even bother. Take one look at the Steam forums and you'll want to puke. I swear to God, this exceeds the toxicity levels of even something like League of Legends.

**CONCLUSION**

This game is literally among the worst I have ever played. It is absolutely despicable that they have the gall to charge $20.00 for the base game and $7.00 for each additional pack (literally TWO CHARACTERS per pack and nothing else - all other content is free). It is a frustrating, hideous, and ultimately pointless grind that exists solely as Twitch streamer bait and is run by some of the most incompetent developers to have ever sullied the Steam platform with their name.

Avoid this game at all costs. Go buy Friday the 13th - at least that game KNOWS it sucks and capitalizes on it by being amusing.

Well I was gonna respond to stuff but oh well can't fix stupid.

Point is it's NOT a fact the games bad, that's an opinion and nothing more, the only fact here is stupidity of being mad that others enjoy something you don't.

My entire point is play what you like and ignore the stupid comments because usually people yelling "game's ♥♥♥♥" are bad at it and just want to say it's the game and not them (I suck at FPS's for instance and know it but CoD is stilll ♥♥♥♥ to me but alot like it so wheatever).

Bug, cheats, glitches they happen in all games and it'll never change.

Just ignore the BS and play the game the naysayers will ♥♥♥♥♥ and complain the games dying even though we still get 20k per day at peak times.:steamhappy:

Currently watching Rainbow 6 Siege pro league finals and i hope dbd devs are too. If the ubisoft team working on siege got to work on dbd, youd see:

- all different perks viable at the highest ranks

-every killer would be equally viable,

-matches would average 2 kills, 2 deaths at the highest level (swf) not balance with solo and DCs.

- it would be harder for people to kill themselves on the hook

- flashlights would be only found in the map and moris/bnps wouldnt be a thing except on casual

-speaking of which, there would probably be a casual and ranked mode.

Oh how i wish some other devs would buy the rights from BHVR. Lets see how they do in June.

I can't see a new game mode being added. The player population is not high enough. You think playing with and against similar faces at rank 1 is bad now, this would just divide the pool even more.
That is not true at all. Several games with smaller pop have more game modes than this one and they are doing fine.

Allow X amount of time for killers to setup. IE for X amount of time the killer gets to setup what ever it is they want to setup. Everything else is paused, the survivors either see nothing,sitting at the campfire like in the lobby screen, or being around the campfire in the actual map. ( Make sure they can not hear/listen to what is going on in the map. )

This would allow killers like Trapper and Hag to set up their traps before the start of the game. It will also allow killers to figure out ahead of time where their totems are.

When the timer is up the killer is transported to the basement. The survivors are put in their normal places. IE the game starts as normal. ( Could have killer start in the killer's normal staring positions but I feel killer really should start in the basement. )

Now killer should also be able to force it to start instead of waiting out the timer when it comes to setup time so that way if the killer is ready ahead of time they do not have to sit and wait for the timer to end.

This would greatly help out killers like Trapper and Hag and also help out the other killers a little bit.. and any future killer that might be trap based.

What do you guys think?

The Trapper is up there as one of my favorites and he definitely needs a buff, but what you're proposing would be too much. I would prefer a smaller adjustment, and work up. Giving him an extra trap might be a good start.

For starters, kill your friends should have matchmaking and be called 'casual' and it would be a place where both sides can chat, set interesting rules, switch roles etc.

And then ranked should be solo only.

Dont know about the original, but siege, which is about 2-3 years old is brilliantly BALANCED. Thats the key point i was trying to get across. Cheating or not, at least they did their jobs and made an interesting, varied and unpredictable meta that makes for fun games. Theres no SB, DS, SC equivalent. No easy moded for cheaters with voice comms.

From what I have seen, people already do KYF and use Discord to talk. But even the streamers that do that eventually get bored and want to play against other players with different tactics. As far as setting rules, that might be fun, but what's stopping them from setting their own rules verbally and following a gentleman's agreement? If you're talking about altering gameplay mechanics, I'd love it-- but then, how much would this detract from the main game mode?

And you can't divide the community with solo ranks. I think SWF was a bad design move when considering balance, but a smart one from a business perspective, and hindering SWF by not allowing them to rank will not only upset that portion of the base, but it will punish newer killers because (good) SWF teams will face the same new killers repeatedly.
Disagree on most points. I find the game to also be very fun despite the shortcomings it does have. It is my most played game on Steam.

Forget balancing the two sides then. Just balance the perks on each side with themselves. That is really really not that hard.

The point is you make ranked into solo only and then turn kyf into a matchmaking mode for swf to play in.

Could i give a rats butt hole what swf cheaters feel about not being able to bully people and get ranked for it? No, i dont. And nor should BHVR. They still get to play swf. Still can cheat with comms. Still can bully killers. They just wouldnt get rewarded for it. Instead they have to use skill and play the game as it was intended.

The idea of this game was 1 v 1 v 1 v 1 v 1. Its not supposed to be Evolve.

Forget balancing the two sides then. Just balance the perks on each side with themselves. That is really really not that hard.

They're in a rough spot, because without perks, the game is probably as balanced as can be. You add perks into the mix as well as the huge skill gap between new player and veteran, and it's just bad juju. I don't think it's as easy to balance as you think.

The biggest gripe I have is that they're not pushing things to PTB sooner. However, with the change in ownership as well as the crunch to work on the June update, I'm cutting them some slack. They should really get the pallet vacuum out for testing as soon as possible after that, though.
