How does rainbow map and black lock finding work?

I walked around with my map quite a lot, the map didnt track the hatch.
Or I will be able to see it when I *read the map* only after it *appears*?

It won't appear to you until the hatch actually spawns, so looking for it BEFORE it spawns is a waste of the map, once the hatch spawns, use the map to find out exactly where it is.

It gets added to your map, even if it hasn't spawned yet, if you've passed over its spawn location, so once you use it when it spawns, it's easy to find.

Ah, so that was my mistake, okay.

I think there was a bug recently that allowed you to see the hatch before it spawned, but that was fixed in the last patch or earlier one.
