why do dbd players keep their profile private?
seem like compared to other games, dbd has way more players having their profile completely private.

at least 80% of ppl i meet keep it private, i swear, why would this be?
just for this particular game?

cuz i dont see ppl havin their profile private so often on the other games.

To help against dodging lobbies, most of em' still end up getting doged anyways though.

Most are save hacks for free bloodpoints or cheated legacy outfits.

Why do players want to even read profiles? Stop dodging and just play the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game!

It hides their time spent and friends list so its not so easy tell if its SWF. It's harder to call you out after game - you have x hours in game and yet you run this sh** (insert perk) or did this or that....
Because the world doesnt spin around DbD?I d show my hours and achievmeents if i could show only that, but my profile was private long before i bought the game and it stays this way.No game will make me change my privacy settings.Steam is not Dbd.

Why some dbd players care if other players have their profiles private? Unless you are cherry picking your lobbies you should have no issue with private profiles.

I keep all my online accounts on friends only. Don't see the appeal in sharing information etc. with strangers. Also I hate people who add you to trade or try to scam you and ever since I changed it to private years ago I never got bothered again.

this is because killers can look at your profile and if you have more than 20 hours in game or you play dbd with your friends the killer will just dodge the lobby and setting it to private is the only thing survivors can do to combat this abuse of the system.

...Privacy?

Is it really any of your business what someone has on their profile?

To answer your question though, I'm currently on freinds only because of the salt I've received while playing this game. People I've killed in the past have left death threats and often got their freinds to do the same. So now I only let people who I personally accept see my profile or comment. Most killers do it for the same reason. On top of that, I have over 1000 hours in the game currently and would probably be dodged by a lot of killers who decided to profile snipe me in a lobby. Most survivors in a SWF team also do it so killers can't see that they're freinds. For others, it's just a privacy thing. Because contrary to what social media and other things will have you believe, some people still value that.

Hope this helps.

A lot of survivors are actually hidding their profiles, because killers are afraid of their hours in-game. It happens to me very often when I join to the lobby and killers leave few second later, because he saw my time. It's sad, because sometimes it takes half of the hour to find a killer, who won't disconnect.
Yet, some of them are actually cheaters: unlocked achievements, hacked save, bloodpoints or exclusive clothes, because they feel pretty safe with this. And it's working, I actually didn't saw any ban gor private profile, even it was obvious he's hacking.
Of course their private profiles can depend on the other games, it's not always because DBD.
I have my profile unlocked, even with comments, because I'm not afraid of anything actually. I have legit everything.
