Enjoy the camping.
On a more serious note; it's ok to camp under the right circumstances if you're trying to get 4k or a lot of BPs.
The 2 main situations to camp are when gates are opened and you hooked someone so camping prevents them from escaping through the gate. The other is when the survivors are WAY too altruistic and are literally at the hook ready to unhook as you're hooking the person.
Just do what you were advised to do. It's good advice:
I agree with this very much.
I try to avoid camping but sometimes you HAVE to do it or you will lose, or at best lose a kill.
Since playing killer I had to change my name and go completely private as I got death threats and lunatic salty survivors commenting on reviews, screenshots and anything they could find to abuse me
However, this penalty does not apply if you're in a chase or there are nearby survivors in that 16 metre radius. My advice is just to not camp unless you know the team is being overly altruistic, you can patrol nearby gens or just stay on the hook if you know for a fact someone's going to try and come for a cheeky save.
It is not bannable though. If you ever play much as survivor and get camped you will see why most people get mad about it. The majority of the people I play against don't mind it during endgame though as you aren't always left with many options. Doing it with 5 gens up though just kinda ruins the game.
But being the hypocrite that I am, I love watching vincentvega do his leatherface skit. Even though I've been hit with it.
That's honestly really sad that you had to change your name and go private just because of that.
It's a game ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lol. I've had a few salty comments on my profile so far, but I don't have too many hours under my belt yet, so needless to say I'm excited for what's to come the more I play.
It is.
I literally only played survivor since starting this game and I heard there was a lot of toxicity but I never saw it as I was a survivor only. But once I started playing killer... my God there are some really toxic and very salty survivors out there.
Don't get me wrong, I have gotten salty but I have never made death threats or wished cancer on people etc but I got exactly that.
Funny thing is, I admit I am a pretty sh*t killer ha ha... So I can't imagine how triggered they get with really good killers.
Despite my limited experience, I've seen some survivors be toxic to each other, so I'm surprised you've never seen it yourself. Including one game where one of the survivors admitted to sandbagging all their teammates and letting them die so he could get the hatch, and I noticed that most of the game he didn't seem to be doing gens or anything, he was just crouching around, probably looking for the hatch.
And yeah, it's funny, whether you're good or you're bad you're not free from toxicity. My very first match I had 3 kills and 1 disconnect, and I was accused of facecamping. I didn't know what it was at the time but now that I do, I know for a fact I wasn't doing it, it was just an excuse to berate me.
I remember asking my friend (who has more experience on this game than I do) if rank 20 was good or bad and he laughed and said it means I just installed the game, and the other people in the match must've been salty for losing to a literal noob killer.
Oh don't get me wrong, I got the odd bit of toxicity like sandbagging and abusive comments in chat etc but nothing like I got playing killer. Most of the time even if we had arguments in one match, we would still save and heal each other in the very next game and give a 'gg'.
You will get accused of camping even if you are on the other side of the map, so don't listen to it. The comment I quoted above is so on point, when you play killer you have to disable comments etc or you will just get endless abuse.
Rank 20 is a fun place to be, it's new and everyone isn't cynical and arrogant, they just want to have fun and learn the game so you don't get the sweaty killers and/or survivors
Don't be in any hurry to rank up as killer either, it starts to feel very unfair and unfun the higher the rank gets imo
I've never seen such a whiny community over somebody taking full advantage of the game. You don't like it? Get mad at the developers. Do not get mad at the players for playing the game.
It's like when you're playing a fighting game and somebody cries "Wahhh stop using the same move wahh!" Ok, it's the developers fault that move can be repetitively used, not the players.
I may get bullied by a SWF squad, but I don't blame them one bit. I actually appreciate them doing it. It makes me realize that I need to get better, or realize that even if I did get better, the game is unbalanced in a competitive standpoint where killers are a joke to experienced survivors.
