How often does the game go on Sale?
TLDR Version:
I quite enjoyed my time playing Dead by Daylight during the free weekend and was wondering how often does this game go on Sale?

Non-Important:
I've been avoiding this game for a long time as Steam Reviewers have been making a lot of negative comments about the game and It's current progression, I should've taken their comments with a grain of salt as the game it self isn't that half bad and actually found my self really enjoying it.

I also avoided the game because of the amount of disencouraging DLC's, Lets be real here for a second, nobody likes having to buy a brand new game and be told they have to buy the remaining content in order to get the full experience so ends up costing something like $100-$200 AUS for me.

I also avoided the game because I was concerned about the amount of DLCs that were available, I don't want to pay for a game and essentially have to rebuy the game several times. It leaves a bad impression that the game is Pay2Win, Required to own these in order to play with others, puts you at a disadvantage etc. I found out while browsing the in-game menu that you can some what purchase most of the DLC content characters by grinding x currency. (Sorry I don't know the name of it.)

PS: Fair enough that I was playing during a free-weekend and was matched against the same skill level as my own and never got to experience high professional or high rank play, although I did have a few instances against playing with a Rank 12 or something Killer, if that means anything.

Thanks for taking the time to read my thread though if you did. :lunar2019piginablanket:

Very often. They are also doing 3rd anniversery event and a new killer coming very soon. So id say its very likely to go on sale very soon.

Theres a free weekend of deathgarden this weekend by the same company to help you wait if you want. Its one hunter with a gun vs 5 free runners.

It usually goes on sale every other month. It's typically 50% off, and the DLC is 30-40% off. Also, one nice thing about this game is that most of the DLC can be earned in-game without spending real money. When you play the game, you gain levels. Each level gives you a currency that can buy the non-licensed characters. This means you can get all the characters for free besides those from an existing movie franchise.

Game isnt pay to win when all of the perks are unlockable and best killers are free.

You can unlock all perks via shards in the shrine of secrets. The only thing is that there are 4 perks at a time and they are random so it may take a while to get the perks you want.

All non licensed dlc can also be unlocked via shards and play time. Freddy, myers, pig, ash, leatherface, and im assuming the upcoming ghostface are all licensed killers or survivors so they have to be paid for.

Dont take all the negative reviews in. Ive still got it reviewed negative because i forgot to change it back. I reviewed it negative because of all the loading screen bugs that were going on but that has gotten better. Just didnt want someone buying the game and being turned away because they werent able to play.

The game and sometimes the dlc go on sale often. Keep an eye on humble bundles as well. Thats where i got it from and had never heard of it. Its addictive.
There is a lot of good and bad content for the game. The extra content can help but more as a supplement to actually playing the game.

The Negative reviews are mostly from I play side X only players. Killers were in pretty bad shape for a long time. Killer Victory Cube was bad news and was part of the time where the game was all about how much could you abuse killers on stream and 100% escape. Behavior looked at the escape rates and lobby Q times and realized how bad it was.

They adjusted the game for a 2+ kill rate. Survivors who were used to free passes revolted with review bombs. The Forums became a constant fight of tunnel vision opinions of but X makes my game hard remove it. Despite what many would have you believe competitive balance between the two sides improved and it has been growing ever since. Now they make adjustments to the game to try to keep it as close as possible to 1.9-2.1 kills per game. Everyone is a littel unhappy but the game prospers.

Just a word of warning. Your gameplay during the free weekend won't be representative of what you'll find if you buy it now and play normally.

That's because normally there are like 20k people playing htis game at any given time. During
the free weekend there were 75k.... meaning there were around 50k newbs to play with.

If you jump in today you will be fighting against 20k seasoned players who have hundreds or even thousands of hours in the game under their belt. It will be a lot, LOT harder than you remember and that can be very frustrating. Going up against people who are significantly better at you in this game can be very painful in both roles.

This game takes a lot of time and dedication to get good at it. Just so you know.

shrine of secrets isnt an excuse. its such a low chance of the perk you want to appear there, and deadlock (arguable the most op perk in the game for killers) has never appeared in the shrine yet. also if you are a f2p player meaning you dont spend any money on in game things you would have to grind a ton or just spend a couple bucks if you wanted a character
