I would definitely turn it into more of a Cthulhu-style story, the Entity is like a GOO or Elder Thing and you actually fight in the Mists against monsters and minions and killers.
I was also thinking that progression would take the form of a once daily ability to project into the Blood Web to gain insight and clues as to where you can go, but the longer you stay in the Blood Web before returning to the Campfire, the greater your risk for the Blood Spider to find you, which can result in more dangerous and famous Killers being set on your trail, the Fog reshifting the landscape or worse, the Entity can actively start hunting for you in the Blood Web, forcing you into a 1v1 encounter with the risk of permadeath should you fail a personal trial.
Again, these are just spitballing ideas.
