Slugging is your best bet for applying pressure, and pretty much the only thing you have when you don't have ruin and versing good survivors. Why? Because 1 slug means 1 off a generator. If the slugged survivor doesn't have unbreakable, then another survivor is needed to get that survivor off the ground, and possibly healed. While this is going on, you may have already found another survivor and you're giving chase. That makes 3 off a generator, leaving 1 person doing the objectives. That's of course if you don't have that last survivor on a hook already. In that case, then you've got all survivor off gens and you're happily taking the lead.
Unfortunately, not all Killers are great at doing this. Hillbilly is the best because of his high mobility and insta-down capabilities. Basically, any Killer who has decent mobility can apply pressure, as they can drop chases and hit gens and potentially resume chases before healing and other such things can happen.
Killers like Clown, Trapper, Leatherface, Myers, etc have difficulty with this because of their lack of mobility, often coupled with their typically mediocre power. Some Killers, like Doctor and Hag, have better map pressure due to their ability to affect Survivors from a distance (though, there is a bigger limit on Doctor's than Hag's).
Generally, chasing one survivor the entire game is bad, as you don't do anything to stop the other Survivors. However, while this is true, it is also true that Survivors generally do not require a lot of time to heal and will usually hop right back on gens after healing. And with Pallet Looping being prominent, and many Killers being vulnerable to it, dropping one chase for another does not always help very much in applying pressure. Dropping one long chase, for another long chase (with a fresh Survivor who is still Healthy) means you wasted very precious time during the first chase and the gates are probably halfway or more to being powered.
The best way to apply pressure, is by playing Killers who are good at doing so: Hillbilly, Spirit, and Nurse (with a possible Hag or Huntress).
Anything else, and you might as well just pray someone screws up.
I have been surprised how effective you can be since I decided I will not camp or tunnel for the easy kill and reasonable survivors seem to be a lot less toxic post match even if they lose.
It seems like you have been rewarded for bad play by survivors making bad decisions as a result of your play style. I can assume you probably rely on NOED too.
Honestly try to not tunnel or camp and instead apply map pressure you aren't currently getting if you are camping. If you have to down someone after a bad save, just slug them rather than put them straight back on hook.
I may not 'win' a match now and then as a result of refusing to tunnel off hook or camp but I feel a lot better about myself and matches are actually more fun doing so
Edit to add of course if you get a last hook when the gates are open, then you will camp that hook and that is a fair enough way to play that
1) Survivors were ignoring hooked teammate and did generators just to unhook him 1 sec before second stage. Then im just making sure to prevent them unhooking before the second stage. I will leave hook after that.
2) Same as first one but with death, i prevent them from unhooking 5% remaining on the hook.
3) Survivors swarming the hook
4) All gens are done, all gates were opened.
Im not tunneling, unless survivors almost done all gens.
Same for hooks
They're just trash wanting ez wins for playing bad.
You apply pressure by making survivors do something else besides repair generators, it really is as simple as that.
I get a lot of crap from people very often in this game if I ever ran a slug build Hex:TOTH and Hex: 3rd seal.
The longer you play this game, the more you will realize that 99% of the playerbase feel incredibly entitled to easy wins and all want to apply the minimum amount of effort to win a match. If you, by your playstyle, give them any actual challenge to overcome, be prepared for an outpour of rage, insults and hate.
