Can you counter BBQ and chili?

So i have been playing killer a bit more lately, i was wondering how people are countering the auras with BBQ and chili? if you get in a locker is your aura no longer shown? Still hiding behind gens? im trying to figure this out for my survivor games as well as killer games. - Thanks.

Hiding behind gens, going into lockers (they made lockers hide auras quite a while back), distortion (survivor perk that hides aura 3 times)

Yes, lockers do that, gen auras too, also distortion perk.

If survivors move within range of the hook, they'll also not show their aura

getting within 40 meters of the killer.

Hide behind other auras
Lockers
Distortion
Getting in range of the hooked surv (so <40m)
Walking one way, then back the other (does not counter the aura read, but counters you :P )

BTW, BBQ lasts 4 seconds, that weird warped bubble thingy that appears around a hook after you slam someone on it lasts 5 seconds, so you can use that to count it.

Lockers and distorsion, or if you are close just stay there. I always try to be near a locker the moment someone gets downed.
