Dead by Daylight

Dead by Daylight

Statistiche:
You probably think dedicated servers are better than p2p
You are all wrong... Dedicated servers not only make killers experience terrible but even the survivors one
Why?
Well because all the killer's hit will get registered from their client so if the killer in that moment has 200 ms you get hilarious hits and you don't even know if the killer is laggy or not, you just see 50-60ms every lobby

Meanwhile in the killer prospective even if you have the lowest ping 30-40 you still get a 3 second delay every time you play a killer like huntress, nurse and so on

These are facts i'm not making anything up probably some of you already experienced that (if you want to tell me your experience you are free to do so)

Dedicated servers is still favouring killers from way outside your region even more so than p2p, they are not close to ready.

there are no pros for P2P, same as there are no cons for DS against P2P
Uh...yeah there is. Are you new to gaming?

Servers will be shut down at some point and the game will become unplayable (unless reverted back to P2P).

P2P is always available but will have connection issues from time to time based on how good one's speeds are.

How will P2P work without a matchmaking server?

Pretty much the same as now tbh

That type of server is far less costly to run, maintain, and keep going compared to servers hosting actual matches. Also there are games out there with zero server influence and are completely P2P.

Probably a game you use with Hamachi.

Obviously. But who's gonna make the matchmaking server? Are the devs gonna release theirs before the game dies? I doubt it. And I doubt it'll be a smooth transition once the game dies. And if the game does die, it probably won't have many players, so lack of popularity and motivation for a third party to make a working matchmaking server (or a lobby server). TLDR: good chance it'd be a PITA to make. But I would not be surprised if private servers have already been created, though.

DbD already uses a matchmaking server and has been for a long time. The actual matches were P2P. The newly implemented servers are hosting the matches now instead of P2P which means the entire matchmaking, finding players and matches, are done by servers.
I was hit while doing a head on stun, tells you alot about the current state of the servers.

Yup, Just had a game against a Colombian freddy and he managed to hit me at the end of the pallet drop animation. BVHR might need to think about region locking if they're gonna run dedicated servers.
Literally just got hit while standing on the other side of a pallet, anyone who thinks dedicated servers are fine are retarded.
At least with p2p you could AVOID laggy hosts.
My overall experience with dedicated servers as both killer and survivor has been great.

While playing killer:
(As mikey/Spirit/freddy)

-Less D/cs
-Less window hits that shouldn't of been happening
-Less hitting people as they pallet stun me

While playing survivor:

-No more killers turning on the lag switch the second gens start popping
-No more hopping lobbies for 20minutes trying to find a killer with good ping
-Less D/cing
-Less B.S hits(Besides the hatchet)

I'm not saying they are perfect. There are obviously bugs that they still need to work through. I would say that even in this buggy state, they are a HUGE improvement over the P2P. At-least if you have decent internet/live in a place that has a server relatively close.

P2P was only ever good for file sharing. Not gaming.

Less BS hits isn't true at all, i live close to a server and supposeldly have 28-35 ping to it and still i bs hits from killers who live nowhere near my server.
dedicated servers will get better over time when they iron out all the quirks. just because they are in a bad spot now doesn't mean it's a bad idea down the line

it will be massively better than p2p in terms of matchmaking which will in turn bring in more players

so yes, dedicated server is better than p2p
