Now im a lil bit smarter
1/ AURA READING. That's what BBQ, Bitter Murmur and a lot more perks and addons do. It's when the killer can see one or more survivors' shape in red for a few seconds, regardless of obstacles. It is the most accurate, since you can see a survivor moving, interacting or staying put for the duration. Can always be countered by going into a locker or by Distortion.
2/ LOCATION. Survivors screaming because of Madness or Infectious Fright, and survivors revealed by Rancor, I think only these three are referred to as their "locations revealed" . Less accurate: killer sees a notification bubble where the survivor is, and it stays for a few seconds, but unlike with aura reading, they cannot see them, only their location at the moment the effect triggers. So they have no way of telling which way the survivor is moving. Can NOT be countered by either lockers or Distortion.
3/ HEARTBEAT/KILLER INSTINCT. Not to be mistaken with Killer's heartbeat, which is another name for the Terror Radius. Survivor heartbeat can be seen by a Legion after successfully putting the Deep Wound effect on someone, and then the Demogorgon's power also reveals survivors this way. It is a unique visual effect, popping up for a moment about every second. It can help with actually tracking a survivor's movement and direction, but less accurately than aura reading. Distance is also a little trickier to assess. Can NOT be countered by either lockers or Distortion.
Hope it helps :)
Edit: Darn, potato beat me to it.
