How does it actually work, I mean get that you'll hear whispers, but for instance are the whispers directional?
Whispers tells you when a survivor is within an X m radius of you, it doesn't specifically tell you where they are just that they are within X meters of you.
Now you can know where they are by using whispers by if for example you walk into a particular direction, as soon as whispers activates you know they are somewhere in that direction, if you are decent at making estimates about how much in game is X meters, then you have a pretty good idea where they are, if you still can't find them you can go outside the radius and go back in and then you have even better info, and that's how you use whispers effectively.
