How do killers always find you in the basement?

Why are you in the basement? If you ran down, scratches are very obvious even from far away around the basement. If you are searching the chest, the noise made can be heard from up to twenty feet away upstairs.

Sometimes when you're moving in certain spots in the basement the plants above it will move and let the killer know someone is down there, that or whispers, that's usually the case.

If you open the chest there, it will make a lot of noise... And the killer knows where this chest is.

I heard a survivor breathing down there once. Also the grass moving could be an indicator aswell.

Personally, I use Stridor 3, so I hear the survivors breathing if I am near. Also there are not that many places to hide in the basement.

if you hide too long, system will expose your position

otherwise killer might have some perk to detect you (such as whisper) or you're loud af

Today I had one game as killer. 3 survivors down and I started to find the fourth one. All of the sudden I heard afk crows explode and saw the red explosions in the basement. So I went there and found a Dwight in the locker.

Don’t forget semi useless but kinda cool perk. Huntress has a perk that gives notification when someone goes into basement.

If you are hiding, specially at the end of the game they will try to find you there. Stop wasting ppls time and do an objective (if its not endgame) or try to open a gate.

That same perk helped me with the one challenge for the archives where you need to sacrifice 4 survivors in the basement in one trial.

The basement always has a chest in it, if the killer has a handful of perks you can be sure to be found there
