I got addons with the perk. I believe you are just unlucky. Try with Up The Ante.

It's a terrible perk. Don't run it. If it stays in the bottom 5 for too long it'll get buffed.

Terrible perk, as it makes items which are already useful even more useful, as it makes items which would otherwise be useless useful, as it provides addons for free which you would otherwise only be able to get from the bloodweb.

Sorry, but I'll gladly keep using this perk, thank you very much, since killers won't shove aces in their own holes, I have to do it for them.

Also I'm not sure why you're having trouble with Ace's perks and plunderer's instinct, as I've been using those perks all the time, and I have absolutely nothing to complain about, as of late I get at least 1 purple item per game, and on more than 2/3rd of the items I find I get addons.

Hence I would suggest to keep using plunderer's instinct + all of Ace's perks as it has consistently been doing wonders for me, instead of being discouraged because of a bit of bad RNG, gotta give it some time, and not to mention hope your teammates don't open any chests or that the killer brings a cut coin offering.

Yeah, a 50% chance to find an addon is the first place it goes wrong. Unless you combo with Plunderers to get an item that will benefit from the addon, it's not worth. (I.e. brown med kit does not become more useful even with charge addons, because most still don't get it up to a full heal) the reason the perk isn't great is because of its absolute dependency. It's fine for a perk to be dependant on one variable. (Whether or not you run plunder) But then it's also subjected to the 50% chance and varying tiers of usefulness per addon. Then ON TOP of that, luck bonuses won't effect your perk, so it's pretty much gimped from getting any of the "perks" of your perks and offerings. Sorry, but I'm more interested in my perks benefitting me, not me dedicating my build to my perks.

Talks about RNG somewhat obscures the issues with regards to the benefits coming out of using this perk, and paints a rather misleading picture of this perk.

For instance: If you find a brown medkit, it's going to be of little to no use to you, now find a brown medkit with ace in the hole, and depending on which addons you find it can either give you a full heal or even an insta heal, in this instance ace in the hole greatly benefits you.

And that's setting aside how it makes items which are already useful even more useful, yeah it's not a 100% chance guarrentee, but if you want 100% guarrentees for things you're more likely to be running the survivor meta in the first place since they are all guarrenteed get out of jail freecard perks.

Ace in the hole's downside is it's RNG, it's strength is how some of the effects coming out of this perk are very strong (i.e. medkit with insta heal, or key with blood amber and so on (let alone free addons either way when otherwise you would only be able to get addons from the bloodweb)), which allows you to make plays with this perk, just not freebie plays, that being said I do think luck (and hence up the ante) SHOULD affect ace in the hole.

So I've been very satisfied with this perk, if anything it's my favourite survivor perk in the game, which puts me at odds with how survivor mains see things with regards to what playing survivor should be like, since they all want freebies, and I want the opposite.

No, you got bad luck. Ace in the Hole and Plunderer's Instinct both increase THE CHANCE of getting better stuff/addons. The key word here is CHANCE. As in RANDOM.
Rocket_Duckling Sep 10, 2017 @ 12:59am
Ace in the Hole + Plunderer's instict + luck offering. If you pull out ♥♥♥♥♥♥ item, you're cursed.

(I run those 2 perks and 1/3 games I find purple flashlight)
