Killer: Better to Re-Hook or Kill?
I've always heard that when playing as the killer, you get more points by hooking and re-hooking survivors. But since the goal of the killer is... to kill, is it actually better to hook and make sure they are sacrificed?

I usually hook and re-hook and eventually let them escape after I've hooked most of them twice. I'm just wondering what's the better method for playing killer.

Thanks.

I hook survivors 3 times (unless they don't go for the rescues) and I actually manage to get 4 kills in most of my games.
Killers that say you need to camp to pip are just extremely bad and do not want to admit it.

Better to always let survivors go and rehook for more points.

It's becuause they know they will not be able to get kills, for me when I play killer I purposfully go after the other guy.

I find you gain incredible much with early re-hooking of the same player so that there's an early death. So almost always go for the same player - despite if anyone else is trying to bait/distract you into chase. Often the players that bait you are the ones with the best escape perks.

Get an early kill and the rest of the match will be much easier to handle. They're easier to control when they're down to 2-3.

Hook and leave. Return and predict location when unhooked, grab the recently unhooked and repeat. Once 2-3 sheeps are remaining, put your focus on 3 gens and rotate and farm destruction points (regressing repairing) and see if you can grab some sheeps while doing it. Let them repair the other gens, don't lose focus & don't get baited away from your rotation. Do this & you will often have 3-4 kills at the end of the game.

That's how I see it and have been playing. I can get enough points to pip by hooking and re-hooking. So I let them live - they have fun, I get my pip, and it's a good game for all.

I see the killer's objective more as terrorizing the survivors rather than outright killing them. It's kinda creepier that way.

That's weird. Are playing the Nurse or the Huntress?
Just yeaterday I met the Wraith, which hook everybody twice and always hited the saviors except me. I repaired 4 gens, opened the game, saved the last hooked guy and escaped. I can't even imagine how fast the game could be if all of my teammates could run BT.

Such strategy works good against rank 20-5. Try to use this strategy against rank 1 survivor and you'll see that the strategy is not so effective as you wish.

I hook, look around to see if there's anyone nearby. If I don't see anybody, I leave. If I see someone going for the rescue when I'm leaving I come back and try to stop them.

The best method to play killer is the one you like the most, not the one others think is better.

If you have a mori or a perk or addon that allows it, then remember each successful sacrifice is worth 4 points in the victory cube, where as a mori kill is only worth 2. however, the new mori system says you have to hook them once first so if you only hook them once and then kill them thats 3 of the 4 potential points, if you do that to all 4 survivors you get 12 points and pip once, but if you hook them twice or only kill survivors after they have reached stage 2 on the hook, which is worth 2 points, then kill them yourself, you get 4 points. its all about strategy, and knowing when to kill vs how. somtimes its also better just to take a point hit just to get rid of that one survivor (you know the one) who is making the game frustrating for you. either way, the best thing is that if they disconnect during the match because they think you are going to mori them, you are rewarded 4 points for them quitting. This doesn't do anything for bloodpoints but you still pip. I hope this advice helps.

if your going for mainly points then you want to get all 3 rehooks tho that could waste more time and allow alot more free time for survivors to do gens. if your going for rank its better to just straight up kill them.

It heavily depends on Survivors.

Some players can get 27k-30k for 20-25 minutes, other players get 10k-15k in 5-10minutes.
Sometimes gaining the maximum points in the match doesn't equal to the most effective way to get the points in the game.

ye its a general case of whats better for you points per our or points per match. iv you play for a long amount of time its probably better to go for a bunch of short matches but if your only havthing a few rounds its probably better to try for long ones.

i just keep hooking until 2 are dead. i leave one on the floor with deerstalker and nurses calling and hunt the other one down. i usually get 4 mans with this tactic.

Hooking a single survivor three times rewards you with 1500 points for constantly hooking them (500 per hooking). That's a lot of points for a single survivor.
