No, it's not.
Why doesn't XBL and PSN ban for it?
Why don't other games?
Why is DBD on PC the only title that does this?
And, SAM breaks "steam" specific rules. It is in the Steam Agreement. You may not use Cheats, automation software (bots), mods, hacks, or any other unauthorized third-party software, to modify or automate any Subscription Marketplace process.
You'd receive a VAC ban.
Because game SECURITY is a real thing.
I can point to other games that manage the same thing just fine.
Why isn't Matchmaking data just kept in your profile save with your account data? Wouldn't that be easier? And safer? And more secure?
And nobody in the history of Steam has ever been banned for achievement hacking. EVER. YOU CANNOT FIND ONE SINGLE CASE.
Doesn't that tell you something about the severity of the crime? As in, it's trivial?
EDIT: OH MY GOD YOU JUST ASSERTED PEOPLE ARE VAC BANNED FOR ACHIEVEMENTS
I'M DYING. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
(also Im pretty sure you can get VAC/game banned in other games besides Dead by Daylight)
I didn't hack a damn thing and have no intention to.
I'm raising a stink about a policy I believe to be morally unjustified.
Nobody in the history of Steam has ever been banned for achievements. Ever. Not one. You cannot find a single case.
It. Does. Not. Happen.
This is a straight up lie.
i'm sorry? this is laughable.
you know that little document you have to read and accept before purchase/installing?
yeah! that long one, about User agreement and Fair use/trade policy?
you know what that says?
if you hack, you get banned, doesn't matter what you did.
hacking achievements might not seem like something worth a permaban just like changing the color of perks, but it is.
you're changing game files, for all you care you could change the survivors clothing to a flipping christmas tree with bells to boot. (i'm not kidding)
you received DbD accepting THEIR POLICY.
If you FAIL to adher to said policy, they have the right to redraw your acces to DbD.
as it should be.
oh and it really doesn't matter what 'other games' do.
this isn't 'other games'
its like you're being called to the principal in high school and you're trying to lessen your punishment by blaming and trying to rat out others.
its sad honestly, there isn't even a reason for this thread to exist.
YOU accepted their policy, now keep your word.
Who's looking for sympathy?
I'm making an argument. I haven't been banned. I don't cheevo havk because I don't care about cheevos at all. They're dumb and pointless.
Nice job attacking me instead of my argument.
How about you engage my argument next post?
There have been around 40K people banned via VAC - I am not sure who was banned for what.
