Banning for Achievement Hacks

Why does DBD ban for achievement hacking on PC when literally no other game in existence does this?

It's technically not even legal on XBL and PSN. They cannot actually revoke your access to anything over Achievements because those are property of Sony/Microsoft, who maintains control of the account. And they refuse to issue bans for achievement cheating.

So why are PC players getting singled out?

Why does DBD store critical matchmaking data in Achievements rather than a secure location on a 3rd party server?

Should they receive the death penalty? No.

A permanent ban is a bit harsh, but they don't really have any other options until they bring in soft bans. Do they just let people achievement + prestige hack?

A permaban is perfectly fine. Cheaters should never be allowed online so the more tools you use to cut their heads the better.

This is literally only lying about what achievements you have earned.

Nothing more. Stop moving the goal posts out.

And, SAM breaks "steam" specific rules. It is in the Steam Agreement. You may not use Cheats, automation software (bots), mods, hacks, or any other unauthorized third-party software, to modify or automate any Subscription Marketplace process.

You'd receive a VAC ban.

The real question is:
Why should the devs invest extra time to find a more complicated solutio that could better invested in the game - and that for cheaters?

Because game SECURITY is a real thing.

I can point to other games that manage the same thing just fine.

Why isn't Matchmaking data just kept in your profile save with your account data? Wouldn't that be easier? And safer? And more secure?

It doesnt matter why. Dont cheat. Nobody likes cheaters. Could at least use half a brain before you cheat. They should be banned. Its CHEATING.

you received DbD accepting THEIR POLICY.
If you FAIL to adher to said policy, they have the right to redraw your acces to DbD.

There have been around 40K people banned via VAC - I am not sure who was banned for what.
