Dead By Daylight is Hide and Seek
Many of my fellow survivors think DBD is a game of Tag. It is not. This is a glorified game of Hide and Seek.

When you are found in Hide and Seek, what happens? You are out. This is why the killer needs to catch you in a reasonable time frame. You need to be out when you are found. This game gives survivors 3 chances, if they get unhooked. There's nothing to complain about, in comparison to the original game.

At some point, survivors got too strong with perk meta and various infinites/abuse that people started thinking the game was Tag. False, it is Hide and Seek. Maybe a bit broken, but still Hide and Seek at heart.

As a survivor that plays without perk meta, and sometimes without perks, I can guarantee you that stealth is very powerful, and can counter any killer, even the ones with Whispers and NOED. It's time for you to learn how the game was originally designed, as a game of Hide and Seek. Don't get caught, fellow survivors.

How do you explain boldness points then?

Boldness points are for taking a risk in the presence of the killer, being bold. There's not really much danger if you can earn these points by running in circles. They need to do an overhaul on the scoring categories because they contradict the gameplay.

Boldness points are literally encouraging survivors to not play stealthy. In real life hide and seek like OP is comparing it to, you don't see people running out trying to be bold lol. They need to implement stealth points to promote more hiding if that is what they want.

Hide and seek is a poor thing to compare it to, it's a mixture between hide and seek and tag. It's not one or the other. The problem is, right now the person playing as the one who is IT is easily pushed around like a fat kid. We have to get the bastard on the treadmill and get him in shape so he can catch the survivors. The game has been more about tag as of late than hide and seek, so naturally they are going to make the killer better at tag.

And most importantly, it is how ppl react to the gameplay that should determine what kind of game it is, or what direction the game should develop to. If there was no chasing and it's not a chasing oriented game, then there would be no players at high ranking. It is the chasing that make game fun for both survivor and killer for experienced players, as a survivor and killer both rank 1 myself.

As a survivor it needs a lot of practice and skills even the looping stuff, and even with so much experience in survivor I had still been juked or caught by really good killer sometimes. As a killer, it is fun to catch survivors that know all the mechanics and know how to loop.

Remember it is not a 4-kill that should make the game balanced from the perspective of killer. 2-kill is the balance, and with really good survivor and killer in higher ranking game, that works out the way it is right now.

Are they really brave? Or do they know they have an innate advantage and therefore have no reason to fear making stupid mistakes?

Well, being bold doesn't exclude being smart. Being reckless does.

Being reckless gets you killed a lot more often.

That's a damn good question.

That's why we have the PTB to sort them out.

What kind of gameplay would you consider bold then?

Bold would be more like sneaking up to your ally and saving him from the hook, reckless would be sprinting up to the hook with disregard to the killer's presence.

Smart saves, like when the killer isn't standing there.

Doing gens and helping your team if the killer is standing there and putting that pressure back on the killer.

I consider a survivor who gets caught that will sacrifice themselves knowing the killer won't leave to be bold.
