What is facecamping.
I see this term all the times on the forum, but even veteran players don't seem to agree on what it means. Here are some things I've seen posted by people with 100+ hours:

1) Facecamping refers to standing extremely close to a surivivor on a hook, so that other survivors literally cannot physically approach to unhook them. It is considered an exploit and is a ban-able offense, just like other exploits.

2) Facecamping refers to standing still and watching the survivor on the hook die, even if you are some distance away, and not physcially standing in the way of another survivor. This is a reportable offense under the harrasment/bad sportmanship category, and may result in a ban.

3) Facecamping refers to staying within sight of a survivor on a hook. It is a legitmate strategy.

4) Facecamping refers to "facing" a survivor on a hook. Meaning you remain nearby and watch the survivor every second until they die, even if you are some distance away. It is considered poor form, but is not against the rules of the game, and even if you get reported, nothing will happen.

So, which is it? Any of these? Something else? Some combination of the four?

What is facecamping?

all of the above since people will call face camping for any of these.

Actual facecamping is strictly #1. Anything else is varying degrees of normal camping.

Also, none of it is actually bannable, from what I hear.

Tragnario is correct. Facecamping is a direct exploit and only that.

Well to be fair it is an exploit they got that part right. The rest of those posts are hogwash though.

It is becoming bannable, because it ruins the game, The game was made for a chase, not to stand and make it impossible to play.

No it isn't, if you cannot play properly. You will not be playing at all, what right does someone have to make the game impossible for survivors to play. Ban all the campers.

The facecamping itself is not bannable, but using it to systematically grief others is. That opens up the question at which point does it become systematic? If you facecamp every survivor who runs the Ironworks window non-stop that'd be systematic, but at the same time you're not targetting any one player specifically so it could be argued it's not a guarantee you'll facecamp.

Then there's the part where it requires proof. How often do you need to get facecamped by a specific killer before it becomes systematic? Is 10 times per day systematic? Is 10 times per month systematic too? Etc. Etc.

None of it would be an issue if people didn't have this idea they're "punishing" others and accepted facecamping is just their way of admitting someone hurt their feelings on the internet, but here we are.

Guys, not that you're wrong or anything now, but this is a necro thread from March. At the time, I was correct. If you could, just for my sake, please stop making it sound like you're trying to correct me, heheh.

This was a loooooong time ago. I actually made another post later on with pictures explaining to others what facecamping is.
