About Altering Game Files
Hey guys I'm not sure if this has been brought up before but i can't seem to find an answer.

I recently had this game gifted to me and I am so happy but am experiencing fps lag (most likely due to my pc being pretty bad). But usually when I alter the settings it becomes playable. I found out that the settings in game weren't that detailed so I looked and saw that they are changable in the game files. Now after some research people have been scared to alter the files VSync or Frame options because of getting banned.

Now, I have no means to hack to alter the game in any way that benefits me other than improving my frames so I have to ask if it would be alright to change these settings (Vsync, and I found a video that said I could erase and replace some text to improve my frames ) without getting banned because that would be pretty awful. I would appreciate any sort of feedback especially from a mod or something.

Thanks!

It's okay to do it, you can also rename the intro movie if you want to skip it.

Are you sure? Is there any confimation from Devs or what not?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure. It was confirmed in multiple places around this forum, but I cba looking for sources, sorry. I've got my v-sync turned off since day one.

Considering devs made it impossible to edit them anymore, dont see why you're asking this

The ini files where vsync and frames settings are are ok to change.

I was able to undo the fps cap and increase some by using adding/changing these values.

in engine.ini add:

[/script/engine.engine]
bSmoothFrameRate=true
MinDesiredFrameRate=22.000000
SmoothedFrameRateRange=(LowerBound=(Type="ERangeBoundTypes::Inclusive",Value=22),UpperBound=(Type="ERangeBoundTypes::Exclusive",Value=122))

in gameusersettings.ini change:

bUseVsync=false
FrameRateLimit=122.000000

Then after you have made those changes, make sure both files get set to Read Only.

I was able to keep my Ultra setting and am now back to gett getting 75-90 fps in-game as I was before 1.40

My specs:

i7 6700k OC 4.4
gtx 970 OC
SSD
16GB ram
w7ult 64bit

No.

If on Windows:

Hold the Windows key and press R to open the 'Run' command.
Type in "appdata" and hit enter.
'Local' > 'DeadByDaylight' > 'Saved' > ''Config' > 'WindowsNoEditor'

Here you can find 'Engine' and 'GameUserSettings', the two files Murf mentioned.

Thanks Murf. Worked for me.

Though it's still too low to be playable.
